The stylish teen star opens up to the mag about the difficulties of growing up in the spotlight and talks about taking on the role as the infamous ‘Carrie.’
Between starring in Carrie, posing for campaigns and now posing for the cover of May’s Young Hollywood’ edition of NYLON magazine, Chloe Grace Moretz, is taking the spotlight by storm! The 16-year-old cover girl looks so cool in her spread and we LOVE the bold, high-fashion looks on the youthful star.
Chloe Moretz NYLON Cover:
The stunning starlet’s pretty, heart-shaped face is featured in a close-up shot on the cover of the mag. Her wispy bangs leave only one green eye in view of the camera. With her pink lips parted and a flirty stare, she looks well beyond her years in the cover shot but still so age appropriate.
The actress poses in another shot wearing a white collared blouse with a blue jacket resting on her shoulders. She pulls off a rather mysterious look, posing with her gaze away from the camera while her hands are positioned in a way that suggests she’s ready to rock out. Photographer Jason Nocito definitely captured her playfulness while she donned such fashionable looks. From animal print, to patriotic-wear and super vintage sunglasses, she looks like she’s having a blast discovering some eccentric looks on set!
Chloe Moretz On Being A Teen:
Though her fashion sense seems to be pretty top notch, she admits that she’s still just living her life like a typical teen. “I’m a normal 16-year-old girl who’s no different from my friends, but on the other hand, I have to portray that glamorous image of, like, Dior Couture! Chanel! Prada! That’s a character. It’s ‘the star,’ not ‘the girl.’ So in my brand, it’s all in one package. That’s just what you have to do,” she explains to the mag.
As she continues budding in the biz, it’s unavoidable that she’s going to have to start making some decisions about her career — like recently taking on a role in the upcoming film, Kick Ass 2. She states, “I always knew I wanted to do movies. The thing with TV is, people almost see you as a family member. You’re in their house every week, and you’re young and innocent. But if you’re 19 or 20, playing 15, and trying to transition into your sexuality, people are going to be like, ‘No, no, you’re my younger sister!’” It’s definitely going to be a major change watching her go from an innocent little girl in The Diary of a Whimpy Kid to a more rebellious role on the big screen.
Chloe Moretz On ‘Carrie’:
Speaking of which, Chloe admits that she had to make some transitions in her acting method in order to really delve into her role for Carrie. “I tried a new style of acting that I’ve never tried before. When I do a crying scene, I’m the type of actor who usually breaks right out of it afterwards, and I’m laughing and being silly. But with Carrie, I wanted to try staying in character and being in that dark space all day. I’m not very serious Method. It’s not like I didn’t talk to my family or go crazy and not eat, but with the director and the actors I was Carrie all the time on set. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had, but it was one of the darkest, and I’m terrified to see the movie because it’s the most vulnerable I’ve ever been.”
Despite the edgy character she’ll be portraying, Chloe promises that she, herself, is actually a very good girl! “I’m, like, incredibly straight-laced, considering what some 16-year-olds are doing… This business is not peaches and cream, and I’ve fought tooth and nail to earn this spot. I’m not a girl who’s ridden on a last name or lucked into it from getting on one project that blows up. I worked for 11 years, and I have to keep working, too, because if I sat back on my haunches right now, I could disappear within a month.”
