The adorable father-son duo team up again to star in the sci-fi thriller ‘After Earth,’ which shows Earth in distress 1,000 after mankind leaves. The environment-conscious stars reveal how the film helped them appreciate our planet.
Seven years after starring in The Pursuit of Happyness together, Will Smith, 44, and Jaden Smith, 14, will hit the big screen again on May 31 as the stars in the sci fi thriller After Earth. Although the movie is set in 1,000 years in the future, the father-son duo revealed in a new interview that shooting the movie poses critical questions about how we are treating the planet.
Jaden Smith — We Must Save the Planet
The film shows a father and son (played by Will and Jaden) as they land on Earth 1,000 years after humans have deserted the planet to live elsewhere in space. The famous father-son duo revealed their connection to the film in a Google+ hangout on April 23. Will said during the hangout:
“With this film it was such a perfect collision of art entertainment, education and a posing of fantastic questions. As an artist, this film does exactly what I always dreamed to be able to do with entertain and to also be able to pose interesting questions,” the actor revealed, according to Space.com.
Jaden also revealed that making the movie helped him appreciate our planet.
“I feel like I really saw some true beauty in the world after shooting in Costa Rica,” Jaden added during the hangout. “After that experience, it really showed me how important it is to save the world.”
