The designer offered up some advice for her former ‘Hills’ co-star on how he could repair his strained relationship with his father.
We chatted with Whitney Port who candidly spoke about how she paid tribute to her late father on Father’s Day in a very special way. The 28-year-old designer also offered up advice for her former Hills co-star, Brody Jenner, who is trying to grow closer to his father –how sweet!
Whitney on Bruce & Brody Jenner’s Relationship:
Whitney, who is currently creating the official apron for the 46th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest, was very close to her father. If anyone knows how important that bond is, it’s definitely her — and she offered up touching words. “It’s definitely something you shouldn't take for granted. There’s still hope, it's never too late to develop a relationship. Brody and Bruce are both still so young and have so much time and experiences ahead of them. They’re constantly learning and I feel like it's not too late for them to mend the relationship,” she says. “My dad taught me to cherish the moments and not take them for granted — it’s great advice.”
How Whitney Coped On Her First Father’s Day Without Her Dad:
Whitney sadly lost her father, Jeffery Port, to cancer in March. Although she wasn’t able to spend Father’s Day with him she was sure to commemorate him in a very unique, touching way.
For her first Father’s Day without her dad, Whitney teamed up with Aura Cycle to host The Whitney Port Charity Ride on June 15 in LA. All the proceeds went to to kidney cancer research, a cause close to the former reality star’s heart.
“It’s important that there is money going towards research, especially the kind he had [kidney cancer] because it’s a more rare form,” she says.
The star managed to turn the day into something very special with a great cause — and we commend her for it. “It was great to be surrounded by my family and it’s something I plan to do more regularly,” she says.
