It was a sad day in Texas on Feb. 12, as thousands of people lined the streets to pay their respects to decorated American sniper Chris Kyle at his funeral procession.

Chris Kyle was laid to rest on Feb. 12 at the Texas State Cemetary, after he was tragically murdered on Feb. 2. Chris, 38, was a former Navy SEAL and had completed four tours of duty in Iraq before his death, so it was no surprise that thousands of mourners lined the streets as Chris’ funeral procession made it’s way from his hometown of Midlothian to Arlington, a 200 mile journey.

Chris Kyle’s Sad Funeral

Chris was buried at the Texas State Cemetery following his sad funeral at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. Bagpipes played and military men saluted Chris’ coffin when it arrived, draped in an American flag, reports CNN.

Chris’ widow Taya Kyle gave an emotional and heartfelt speech about her devastation over losing her husband.

"Chris, there isn't enough time to tell you everything you mean to me and everything you taught me," she said. “He was the best dad in the whole world.”

Chris’s young children “Baby Girl”, 8, and “Bubba”, 6, were also present at his funeral.

Chris’ Sad Death

Chris, along with his friend Chad Littlefield, were shot and killed at a North Texas gun range by Iraq War veteran Eddie Ray Routh, 25. His is believed to have killed the men because he was paranoid that they would kill him. Eddie was suffering from post traumatic stress disorder.

Chris is most famous for his career as a sniper, and he wrote a best-selling book American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History, which details his time as a Navy SEAL and vividly depicts his 150-plus kills in service from 1999 to 2009.

Our thoughts are with Chris’ wife and family.
