The Louisville-Duke game took a ghastly turn on Mar. 31 when Kevin landed awkwardly and broke his leg in multiple places. Almost immediately celebs and athletes took to Twitter to voice their shock, horror, and support. Keep reading to see their tweets.
It was a horrific scene at the Elite Eight game between Louisville and Duke when Kevin Ware’s right leg collapsed underneath him, breaking in more than one place.
The graphic image of Kevin’s leg snapping (and his bone protruding out of his skin) was replayed over and over again, and unsurprisingly the terrible news caused an enormous Twitter reaction — from fans, celebrities, and athletes alike.
Kevin Ware’s Horrific Injury: Celebs & Athletes React
Lil Wayne tweeted, “May God be with Kevin Ware and his family. Ya in my prayers bro.”
Former quarterback Joe Theismann sent out the message, “Watching Duke/ Louisville game my heart goes out to Kevin Ware.” Joe has actually been in Kevin’s position — in 1985, Joe suffered a horrific compound fracture of his leg on national television.
Robert Griffin III, who has also suffered his own leg injuries, tweeted, “Prayers up for Kevin Ware, his teammates, & family.”
NBA star Kevin Love posted, “I don’t even have words. Only prayers right now,” and Steph Curry tweeted, “Pray for him!” And Jared Dudley spoke for us all, tweeting, “My stomach hurts after watching that injury!”
Baseball phenom Bryce Harper tweeted, “Wow! Speedy recovery for Kevin Ware hopefully! Scary moment! Prayers and blessings to you bud! #NCAA.”
Eric LeGrand, a college football player who was paralyzed after a football-related injury, posted the tweet, “Just watched what happened to Kevin Ware and definitely sending my prayers up for you man.”
The outpouring of support for Kevin Ware has been huge. It’s such a horrific injury that it’s impossible not to have an emotion reaction. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kevin as well, as he tries to recover from this ghastly injury.
