Following her escape from Ariel Castro’s house of torture, a new report says that Gina DeJesus made the difficult decision to adopt one of his dogs.

Gina DeJesus reportedly formed "an unbelievable bond" with a mix terrier pup named Lola during her decade long captivity, and following Ariel Castro‘s arrest, she chose to adopt the dog. How truly selfless!

One month after escaping from Ariel’s home in Cleveland, Ohio, Gina adopted one of his dogs, reports 19 Action News. Three small dogs were taken from the home on May 6, and have been kept in a shelter since.

Once the dogs were ready for adoption, Gina and her fellow captives Amanda Berry and Michelle Knight were offered first claim, and Gina's attorney collected Lola for her on May 31.

This is so sweet of Gina, especially since seeing the dogs could bring back bad memories from her time in the house of hell. Hopefully being with Lola will help her heal.

Ariel had allegedly let the girls play with the dogs while in captivity, and often took them away as one of his many forms of punishment.

Gina and Michelle were kept in horrific conditions in the Cleveland house.

Ariel’s basement was allegedly equipped with chains coming from the walls and dog leashes hanging from the ceiling. Michelle and Gina spent most of their time in the basement, and were held in the chains in “stress positions.”

“One of the girls has difficulty moving her head around from being chained up,” a source said. ”It was like they were POWs,” another insider revealed. “They had bed sores from being left in positions for extended lengths of time.”

To further demonstrate how evil Ariel was, he would reportedly use duct tape to restrain his captives when he left the house.

“If he left for long periods of time he would sometimes duct tape-up the women over all parts of their faces, even their eyes, only leaving an opening so they could breathe. Then he would just rip it off pulling off skin and hair.”

Thankfully, Gina’s horrific experience is over, and she can move on with her life and focus on caring for her new dog.

What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Do YOU think it’s sweet that Gina took home one of the dogs, or will it bring back bad memories?
