Kate went against royal tradition of spending baby’s first days at the palace by heading out to her own hometown.

“For them to go back to Bucklebury shows that Kate wants the security and comfort of her family instead of a huge ream of staff,” maternity nurse Sarah Dixon tells People. Of course, even though the Bucklebury home is much smaller than the palace, it is still a grand 17-bedroom home that is known in the village as “the Manor.”

Dinners at the Middleton house have been true family affairs perhaps “a simple Italian meal cooked with the help of housekeeper Antonella Fresolone (decamped from the couple’s Kensington Palace digs) in Carole and Michael’s open kitchen,” reports Us Weekly. Though this sounds like a little taste of luxury, “there’s no special treatment,” a family source assures the mag. “William still has to help load the dishwasher after dinner. The same will apply to George when he’s a grown boy.”

Carole Middleton Protecting Her Family

New grandma Carole Middleton always “ran a tight ship” with her own kids, says Marcia Moody, author of Kate: A Biography. So she will likely be a huge help to the new couple, making sure they establish a schedule with the baby and save some time to recuperate themselves!

“Carole will be like a tigress protecting her daughter from everyone. She will be telling Kate, ‘It’s time for your sleep, and I will look after the baby’ and so on,” Majesty Editor-in-chief Ingrid Seward tells People.
