Miley Cyrus, 20, was shaking her booty in a nude bra and panties at the MTV Video Music Awards and everyone in Hollywood was in the audience. But why wasn’t Miley’s fiance, Liam Hemsworth, there cheering her on for one of the biggest performances of her career? HollywoodLife.com can tell you why.
Why Liam Hemsworth Skipped VMAs
It turns out Liam was never supposed to go to the VMAs, so for anyone who thinks he skipped it, backed out, stood Miley up, not true! Liam, who is known for keeping a low profile, actually knew her performance was going to be over-the-top and that’s why he and Miley jointly decided he not attend.
“Miley knew her performance was going to be outside his comfort zone and she didn’t want to be worrying about him in the audience and how he was going to react,” the insider tells us. “The whole thing was just another day of work for her, she wants her album to be number one and that means promoting the hell out of it.”
But how to Liam’s ultra-conservative parents feel about her performance being labeled raunchy and making headlines all over the world?
“Liam’s family is very conservative so she knows they won’t approve of her performance,” the source added. “But she had to make a decision when she started all of this, is she going to shape her career to please Liam and his family or is she going to be the artist she wants to be?”
The source continued: “She loves Liam and she wants to make him happy but it does seem pretty clear that her own career is the most important thing to her right now and what’s wrong with that? Liam is putting his career first, no one is expecting Liam to pick his movie roles based on what will make Miley and her family happy. So why should she base her career on what will make him and his family happy? It’s not something she can worry about or it will drive her crazy.”
Miley Doing Everything She Can To Make Their Relationship Work
HollywoodLife.com told you that Miley has been the main one putting in the effort into their relationship. But she hasn’t given up hope and the two are still together. Some good news, she’s started looking at bridal magazines to give her ideas for her wedding.
“It’s Miley that’s been putting in most of the effort to keep them together, but Liam does love her,” a source tells us. “It’s hard to tell if he’s madly in love with her because he’s not the type of guy that does the big romantic stuff but he is there for her when she needs him, so that says a lot.”
