Taylor Swift, your ex-boyfriend just gave his first interview about your relationship and he’s handling it the totally opposite way than you have been. Harry deserves an apology from you. Here’s why.
Taylor Swift, you are smart and a hugely talented role model, but you publicly dissed your ex Harry Styles during your Grammys performance and he has now refrained from digging right back at you in his first public interview since your breakup. You should really rethink your policy of using your performances and careers to get revenge on all your exes, especially him.
Certainly some of them may deserve it because they’ve just plain been jerks or they repeatedly hurt you by breaking up and trying to make up like it appears Jake Gyllenhaal did. But honestly — you only dated Harry, 18, for a month or six weeks and it seems as if the relationship was happily hot and heavy for you until the big fight that broke you up.
Does one split fight in an otherwise good relationship qualify a guy for punishment at The Grammys, where you said the line, “We are never ever getting back together” in a British accent? Plus, there are reports that you’ve written five revenge songs about Harry for your new album.
Harry Styles Could Have Gone On A Revenge Rampage
Now, Harry might have decided to fight fire with fire once he started talking, but he hasn’t. In fact, he was a total gentleman when he went on the radio on London's Capital FM on Feb 17 and was asked about his split from you. Actually, he was downright polite.
"I'm okay, thank you for asking," Harry told his interviewer. "I'm good." Can you imagine most celebrities saying “thank you for asking,” when questioned by the press about a recently failed romance? That would be a no. Most would curtly cut the conversation off. So first,Harry gets kudos for being respectful and not defensive.
Then shockingly, Harry takes the total high road and heaps praise on your Grammys appearance. "She's a great performer and she always performs great," Harry said. "She's always good on the stage. She's been doing it a long time. She knows what she's doing on stage. It was just another good Taylor Swift performance. It was good."
Wow! He just killed you with kindness and should have bought your undying respect. He refused to be drawn into any tit for tat battle just because of your public diss. Then Harry went even farther to win the hearts of fans – yours and his. He makes it clear that he understands why his and your fans would want to know his feelings about the split, so he says: "I understand why people would wanna know stuff like that, I get it. If someone does stuff like that then I wanna know about it, too. I guess it just kind of. . . It is what it is, I guess."
Harry Styles Respects & Doesn’t Resent His Fans Interest In His Love Life
How cool is that! Again – he doesn’t put down his fans for wanting to pry a little into his personal life. He understands that he’s a public figure, who is loved and adored by hundreds of millions of young women and he gets their interest in his love life.
Taylor – that should impress you too. He’s handled your split with grace, candor and with respect for his fans.
Now, doesn’t his high road approach make you feel a just a touch badly about your Grammys revenge move and possibly some songs you have in the works? Do you really feel the need to try and publicly shame him further?
You don’t need to do that. You’re so together and inspirational in so many ways.
Why don’t you respond to Harry’s olive branch and find some clever way to publicly praise him in a way, that could be construed as your own apology.
