One of the hospital’s very own finds himself in a new position of power after a sudden turn of events.

After Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Cristina (Sandra Oh), Callie (Sara Ramirez), Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) quit Seattle Grace Mercy West, the hospital was full of chaos in the Feb. 21 episode of Grey’s Anatomy. But much to everyone’s surprise, Pegasus still wanted to buy the hospital — now for a very different reason.

Although the departing docs had quite a bundle of money after the lawsuit, it still wasn’t enough for them to purchase the hospital by themselves, so the group went on a mission to find a wealthy investor to help them. They scored a meeting with the top executive of a company called Crest Capital, but were disappointed when their meeting was with some powerless junior executives.

Avery’s (Jesse Williams) mom Catherine (Debbie Allen) arrived at the hospital to convince Avery to move to Boston to help her with the Harper-Avery Foundation, but Avery was not a fan of the idea.

Eventually, Meredith, Cristina, Callie, Arizona, and Derek landed a meeting with higher executives and finally the head of the company. Although the exec thought the doctors had good medical background, he denied their proposal because they had no administrative support on their team. But luckily for the doctors, they knew just the man they needed: the Chief.

Back at the hospital, Heather (Tina Majorino) overheard Alanna (Constance Zimmer) say that the real reason Pegasus is buying the hospital is to sell it for parts. The news spread like wildfire throughout the hospital, adding more pressure to the doctors who were trying to buy SGMW. During surgery, April (Sarah Drew) confronted Owen (Kevin McKidd) about the rumor, which was a complete surprise to him.

After learning the real reason Pegasus was buying the hospital, Owen got into an argument with Cristina, blaming her for quitting. In her defense, Cristina finally revealed to Owen that the doctors were going to buy the hospital.

After Meredith convinced the Chief to join the team, the doctors went back to Crest Capital. Pressed for time, the exec agreed to talk with Derek and the Chief in a helicopter the way to the airport. Cristina, Meredith, Callie, and Arizona met them at the airport and anxiously awaited the decision.

After finding out the doctors’ real plan, Owen interrupted Pegasus’ final meeting to announce he had another buyer. They agreed to postpone the meeting for another day, but unfortunately, the exec had denied the doctors once again.

But God smiled on Seattle Grace Mercy West yet again. A new buyer came from out of left field: the Harper-Avery Foundation! Catherine agreed to buy Seattle Grace Mercy West as the newest Harper-Avery Foundation branch — leaving Avery in charge of the entire hospital.

Hollywood Life: Selena Gomez & Taylor Swift: Their Splits Have Turned Them Into Women

Feb 22nd 2013, 03:30

Selena and Taylor are rebounding quite nicely from their recent splits, and noted relationship experts tells HollywoodLife.com that these BFFs are blossoming into quite the powerful women! Read on for all the details.

Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift have leaned on each other since both split from their respective beaus at the start of 2013. While they’re beginning to get over Harry Styles and Justin Bieber, they’ve each turned up the heat and proved what glamorous women they’ve become!

Relationship expert Dr. Phil Dembo tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively, “Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift are living parallel lives…both post break-ups with boyfriend, both much more bold and sexy with their look as women and both are best friends.”

Taylor Swift & Selena Gomez Want To Look Their Best

Dr. Dembo tells us that the breakups are pushing the besties to look their very best! “It is often the case that after a break up with a boyfriend or girlfriend, we are much more heightened to wanting to look our best, our sexiest, and our most inviting. One, we want to look good for the new suitors out there and, two, we want to look really good just in case our ‘ex’ is looking our way.”

“The other dynamic working here for both young women is they are are in fact young women and we have been watching their every move and all their growth and development since they were young children,” he adds. “Both Selena and Taylor are emerging into ‘womanhood’ and with each young adult experience such as a new love or a break-up, we will witness a step forward in their evolution as women, and as sexual beings.”

The BFFs Want To Get Back Their Sense Of ‘Self’

Relationship expert Cooper Lawrence agrees. “Several studies have found that after a breakup, young women tend to lose their sense of self and no longer feel like they know who they are…so….a great way to get back your sense of ‘self’ is to explore every aspect of who you are, and especially your sexuality,” she says. “Lots of girls change their appearance and attitude FOR a guy, why wouldn’t they change it AFTER the guy is gone? Makes sense, right? And it’s totally normal behavior, we all do that.”

Do you think that Taylor and Selena have blossomed into women after their breakups, HollywoodLifers?

TVLine: Scandal Recap: Everything's Jake (or Not)

TVLine
TV News, Previews, Spoilers, Casting Scoop, Interviews
thumbnail Scandal Recap: Everything's Jake (or Not)
Feb 22nd 2013, 04:44

This week on ABC’s Scandal, we learned for whom Jake is spying on Olivia, Cyrus beat Mellie at her own game and [sniff] here came the rains again for Huck.

MEL AND THE MOLE | As the hour opens, Fitz is at a loss regarding what to do about the American hostages — especially after the terrorists release video of one being executed. After a confab with shut-out Cyrus, Mellie says she’ll take to Fitz his idea to fight “blood with blood” — but he later learns she sold it as her own. Cy later lets Mellie run with her own next (bad) idea, and with help form him it loudly backfires, putting Cy back in Fitz’s good-ish graces. Fitz, though, is still hot to find the mole within his ranks, but  CIA boss Osborne (played by Kurt Fuller) insists his agency is clean.

SOMETHING DOESN’T SMELL RIGHT… | Having dug up his dead bedmate’s super-encrypted intel-filled flashdrive last week, David was on high alert, seeing shadows and hearing thumps around every corner. Alas, Huck was of little use to him, as he he went through some PTSD stuff triggered by his recent waterboarding and the rainy weather. Ultimately, we learned that it’s Wendy’s bestie circling David, wanting to share that she saw Wendy arguing with a man. By episode’s end, this woman has ID’d the guy as CIA Director Osborne — meaning, based on the first recovered flashdrive file, he leaked the hostage names to the terrorists. Oh, and David and Abby are still cavorting, though she advises him to not think it means anything. “Dont worry, I don’t!”

WHO’S WATCHING THE WATCHMAN? | Olivia is late to meet Captain Jake Ballard at the restaurant she chose (aka “where dates go to die,” he grumbles). He instead orchestrates a picnic of sorts, but Liv is all business, pumping Jake for intel on the “Albatross” files. (“You really suck at dating,” he notes.) Later, we see Jake take a meeting with his old pal Fitz, reporting, “It’s done. I’m doing it. I’ve been doing it” — meaning, Fitz asked him to snoop on Liv, because “Olivia Pope is not what she seems… She is not a good person.” During a surveillance sesh, Jake calls a forlorn-looking Liv about a second date, and even though he pulls out all of my own tricks, he gets bupkus (as I oft do, sigh). But to his credit, apparently he does turn off the monitors when Liv strips. He later catches his subject in a more receptive mood, and inroads are made for Date 2. Yet when Fitz, who at a gala spied Liv on her celly smiling, confronts Jake with, “Who’s the guy,” the captain lies: “Shes not seeing anyone.”

Listen, a show that burns hot needs to serve up lukewarm dish once in a while, and this one had multiple highly predictable moments. Jake and Fitz? Many of y’all called that one. Cy torpedoes Mel with a bad idea? You don’t need the mighty Olivia Pope to pitch that sabotage plan. And anyone who didn’t see the “committed bachelor candidate has actually been bedding his brother’s wife for 10 years” twist coming simply doesn’t watch enough TV. (Or wasn’t watching the wife’s anvil-like tells.)

Feb 22nd 2013, 04:07

The following contains spoilers from Thursday's episode of Suits. If you have yet to watch, avert your eyes now.

On Thursday’s season finale of Suits, the action at the law firm got heated, in several senses of the word. And that’s all we’ll say until after the jump, just to make sure the unspoiled remain that way. (But you’re gonna want to read on, because there’s good stuff ahead.)

All clear? OK. After two seasons of pent-up sexual tension and secrets, Mike finally revealed to Rachel that he never went to Harvard. And she reacted to the news with two slaps — but that didn’t stop them from having sex in the file room.

Although the steamy – and kind of angry – consummation of Mike and Rachel’s will they/won’t they relationship was somewhat risque for a USA Network show, executive producer Aaron Korsh tells TVLine there were no objections from the big bosses.

"We got zero pushback," he says. In fact, the network bigwigs actually helped him with an editing question. "When I first watched the scene, I loved it. I was there when they shot it. As soon as they did the first take of it, I was like, ‘This is going to be awesome!’ I loved what they were doing. And it only got better from there."

Later, Korsh had a moment where he thought "if it was just three seconds shorter, it might be more impactful. Then I watched it again and I thought, ‘Eh, I’m not sure. I really love it the way it is.’"

To solve his dilemma, he asked the execs at USA to weigh in – and they were split, too, until word came down from the top. "Evidently, I think [NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Group Chairman] Bonnie Hammer watched it," he continues. "It’s very rare – I don’t believe we’ve ever gotten notes from Bonnie Hammer. Maybe on the pilot, but I can’t remember. Bonnie Hammer thought it might be better if it was three seconds shorter. I thought, ‘This is great. I’m torn anyway. Let’s just do it.’"

And so "three random seconds" were taken out of the sequence, but "it wasn’t any particular shots that were too racy," explains the EP.

RELATED | Matt's Inside Line: Scoop on White Collar and More!

As for why he decided to pair the big reveal with Mike and Rachel’s first time, Korsh says, "It was always in my mind that the secret would come out at the same time they slept together… If Mike sleeps with her and doesn’t tell her the secret, that is a not a good thing for his character. He’s always said he’s not going to have lies between the two of them… Just instinctively, it seemed like the two should go hand in hand and that should lead to them having a fight."

The fact that the big moment Mike-and-Rachel fans have been waiting for came amid yelling and anger is a sign that things won’t be simple for the pair, despite having finally sealed the deal.

"Their struggle for Season 3 is going to be: Can Rachel really accept this guy who has everything that she wants, but hasn’t earned it?" previews Korsh. "This fraud is a form of betrayal. If she wants to accept it, it’s going to be a process. It’s not just going to happen easily."

Read on to find out what the EP revealed about the finale’s other big developments…

IS HARVEY’S BROTHER COMING TO TOWN? | Yes and no. "It was not put in there as a seed to be planted for next season. It was actually put in there to answer some [questions about] Harvey’s past, which is what people are always longing for and what we like to do. We may pick up on that scene for next year. We may not. I would imagine, at some point, we’re going to meet Harvey’s brother."

HOW HONEST WAS HARVEY WITH SCOTTIE? | "It’s not that Harvey doesn’t have feelings for Scottie or thinks he doesn’t have feelings for Scottie. It’s that he doesn’t trust Scottie. As we’ve revealed now with Harvey’s issues with his mom, it’s very hard for him to untangle his heart towards Scottie if he doesn’t trust her. That’s the core of his issues with the world in general and women in particular. I don’t know that he’s being dishonest. I think he’s protecting himself."

WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE FIRM? | Scottie’s British bosses will be sticking around for "at least a period of time," Korsh says. "We’re moving forward with this merger presumably, and that’s going to have consequences. It’s like you’re entering into a new relationship. There’s going to be problems. There’s going to be things to work out. There’s going to be pleasant surprises. There’s going to be unpleasant surprises."

Hollywood Life: ‘American Idol’ — Nicki Minaj Tells A Guy: ‘I Want Your Babies’

Feb 22nd 2013, 04:04

Nicki Minaj fell in love on the Feb. 21 episode of ‘American Idol’ — unfortunately, 5 guys were cut. See who went home below.

For the second night in Las Vegas, American Idol judges Mariah CareyNicki MinajKeith Urban and Randy Jackson cut and critiqued and Nicki told one guy she wanted to have his babies AND that she was really to sign his record deal right now! See who got the love and who met the end of their journey below.

The Good & The Great

Paul Jolley got critiqued by the judges who said he needs to be careful not to “over perform.” But he took a risk by singing a Keith Urban song in front of Keith himself, and overall it paid off.

Johnny Keyser – Keith called his performance “effortless” while Nicki called him “sexy.” Mariah even commented that she didn’t want to get in trouble with her husband Nick Cannon but that he is bringing the sexy!

Devin Velez performed half in English and half in Spanish and got a standing ovation from the audience. Nicki said he was amazing and really smart to sing in Spanish. Randy praised him for taking his time and for the great arrangement.

Elijah Liu reminds me of a baby Bruno Mars in looks and personality but unfortunately, not so much with his voice. Keith said it was shakey and not perfect. Nicki RAVED about him, saying that she would have his babies AND that she would sign him today. She said she was obsessed with him!

Jimmy Smith sang a Keith Urban song and Keith said he thought he did a great job. Randy said he was bored and Mariah said it wasn’t his best vocal but that there is something about him that is special.

Curtis Finch, Jr. sang Luther Vandross with incredible soul and heart. Keith said it was “beautiful.” Nicki said he raises the bar every single time he steps on stage. Randy said he is one of the best singers in the competition! Mariah was moved to tears.

We’ll See Ya Next Year

Jda performed a fierce version of “Rumor Has It” while completely covered in glitter. I mean completely. Keith praised his originality and showmanship. Nicki called him a “super star performer.”

Kevin Harris — Nicki said it was “perfection” and that his vocal was “100% tonight.” Randy, on the other hand, was bored and called it karaoke. Ouch.

Chris Watson – Keith said he had great confidence but choose the wrong song. Nicki said she wants to marry his vibrato but Randy, once again, was not a fan.

Charlie Askew was soooo freaking nervous he was visible shaking. Although his performance was awful — hate to say — Nicki gave him a standing ovation — A for effort. Nicki said his weirdness and awkwardness “excites” her. Um, I’m uncomfortable.

The Results Are In

In the end Paul, Devin, Elijah, Charlie, and Curtis were sent through to the next round.

Did the judges make the right decision tonight, HollywoodLifers?

thumbnail Grey's Anatomy: Going, Going… Not So Fast!
Feb 22nd 2013, 03:54

This week on Grey's Anatomy, Team Megabucks (Derek, Meredith, Callie, Arizona and Cristina) jumps through one hoop after another to convince a gazillionaire to invest $175 million in their purchase of Seattle Grace. But, because not one of them is an administrator, he passes. "I'm not feeling this," he says. Luckily, (a) we cannot reach through the TV screen to smack him upside the head, and (b) Team Megabucks just happens to know a coupla crackerjack administrators…

CHOP, CHOP, BIZ, BIZ | Before Team Megabucks gets that far with their master plan to save both the hospital and the day, Alana tells Owen that she's managed to bring Pegasus Horizons back to the negotiating table. What she doesn't tell him is that they're only interested in buying Seattle Grace for scrap! He finds out pretty quickly, though: As soon as Heather (over)hears about it, she informs Bailey, then – ignoring Bailey's order to keep her lips zipped – blabs to everybody else. Finally, Owen gets clued in when Shane asks him – during surgery, natch! – if the rumor's true.

OPEN HEART | While Stephanie admits to Leah that, when Seattle Grace closes up shop, she'll follow Jackson pretty much wherever he goes, he seems decidedly less… well, decided about their future. Elsewhere, Jo tearfully confesses to Alex that she would hate to never see him again. Somehow, even this revelation does not result in the two of them kissing.

RUNNING OUT OF TIME | With their gazillionaire about to jet off to Dubai, Team Megabucks has to hustle to recruit Richard and Owen to be their administrators. Once they're on board – hey, they're hardly tough to sell on the idea – Richard joins Derek for a final pitch to Richie Rich, and Owen talks the board into postponing the (liquidation) sale to Pegasus Horizons. Alas, it's all for naught: The gazillionaire still isn't "feeling it." (And again, he's lucky we can't reach through the TV to smack him.)

MAMMA MIA | Later, Richard fills in Catherine on Team Megabucks' failed attempt to purchase Seattle Grace. "How much money did you need?" she (pretty much) asks. And boom! The morning after, she announces that the Harper Avery Foundation would be happy to fork over the dough – on one condition: They get a rep on the board. "Sure, sure, you name it," everybody replies. That is, until Catherine turns to Jackson and delivers the best line of the night: "Give your mama a kiss – she just bought you a hospital!"

Okay, your turn. What did you think? Were you disappointed that Catherine gave the board seat to Jackson instead of taking it for herself? (Personally, I'd love to see Debbie Allen in every episode.) Did you agree with what Owen said – that Bailey is the heart of the hospital? Do you think he'll be able to forgive Cristina? And, on a completely shallow note, how freakin' cute is Heather's new haircut? Sound off below!

Hollywood Life: ‘DWTS’ Cast Names Revealed: ‘Bachelor’ Sean Lowe & More

thumbnail 'DWTS' Cast Names Revealed: 'Bachelor' Sean Lowe & More
Feb 22nd 2013, 02:54

The celeb line-up for ‘DWTS’ Season 16 won’t officially be revealed until Feb. 26, but HollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned of the first three people cast! Read on for all the inside scoop.

Dancing With the Stars fans, prepare to get excited! Even though the Season 16 of the veteran reality show won’t premiere until March 18 on ABC, and the season’s cast won’t be announced until Feb. 26 on Good Morning America, we’ve learned the names the first three people who are warming up their dancing feet!

‘Dancine With The Stars’ Cast — Season 16

A source close to the show tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively that current Bachelor Sean Lowe, celebrity chef Bobby Flay, and Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman are the first three stars to have joined the show’s cast. Not only that, but an unidentified boxer is said to be in the mix, as well!

Our insider also tells us that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been asked to flex his dancing muscles week to week, but the jury’s still out on whether his name will be announced on GMA.

Past ‘Bachelor’ Stars On ‘DWTS’

The name we’re most excited about, of course, is Sean! Prior Bachelor alumni who have appeared on DWTS, including Jake Pavelka, Trista Rehn Sutter, and Melissa Rycroft have always done well. Melissa even took home the mirrorball trophy in Season 15!

Rumors had been circling that Sean had been asked to strut his stuff, with Us Weekly recently quoting a show source who said, “We would love to have him.” Eliminated Bachelor contestant Sarah Herron spoke with Ryan Seacrest on his morning radio show about the possibility, placing herself firmly on Team Sean.

“I think Sean could definitely pull it together to make it all the way on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’” she said. “He’s incredibly athletic and a quick adapter to all sorts of activities. So, I think he could do really good.”

Which star are you most looking forward to seeing on DWTS this season, HollywoodLifers?

TVLine: American Idol Vegas Round (Part 2) Recap: Men of a Certain Range

TVLine

thumbnail American Idol Vegas Round (Part 2) Recap: Men of a Certain Range
Feb 22nd 2013, 03:05

If American Idol wanted to find its Season 12 winner via personal ad, the copy would probably read something like this:

TOP-RATED REALITY SHOW ISO BIG-VOICED DIVA | Been dreaming for six years now about discovering America’s next great female artist — though not the “current” type that looks and sounds like she spontaneously sprouted from the dark, moist corner of a dumpster. (Sorry, wannabe Ke$has!) Turn-ons include girl-next-door charm, working-class backstories and the ability to crush a glory note like The Rock slamming his fist down on an empty Diet Coke can. Turn-offs include pale-skinned males who’ve ever plucked a guitar, bass, violin, eyebrow or even a chicken. In fact, if you’ve got a penis, go to The Voice. Go directly to The Voice. Do not pass the SwayBot pit and do not collect 200,000 text votes. Willingness to share our affections with 11 prior winners a must. Reply to LadiesLoveBritishNigel@aol.com.

And yet while The House That Kelly Clarkson Built continues the quest to find itself a new queen, the situation hasn’t gotten desperate enough for Fox to make Season 12 a ladies-only kinda party. To which I say thank goodness.

Oh, sure, the last five seasons of Idol have found me rooting for Carly Smithson, Allison Iraheta, Crystal Bowersox, Haley Reinhart/Pia Toscano and Skylar Laine, but would I really want my iPod to exist without the sounds of David Cook, Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, Joshua Ledet, Matt Giraud, Anoop Desai, Phillip Phillips, Michael Johns, Paul McDonald and Stefano Langone? (Don’t try to pretend “I’m on a Roll” isn’t one of your guilty pleasures, too.)

At the end of the day, Idol is all about giving power to the people, letting the American public overthrow the majaor-label cabal that gives us musical gruel like that will.i.am-Britney Spears duet and tries to convince us it’s chocolate mousse. So bring on the guys — all 20 of ‘em — and let them throw it down, I say! (And, hey, it’s not as if rootsy blues rocker Phillip Phillips, earnest country kid Scotty McCreery and pop-rock troubadour Kris Allen are really anything alike — aside from their Y chromosomes and pale complexions.)

Tonight’s two-hour Idol installment — which whittled the first 10 Season 12 men down to five (the remaining 10 will perform next Thursday and also be cut by half) — was weird and wonderful (and yet also totally confounding), with Nicki Minaj threatening to marry one contestant’s vibrato, make babies with another, and cradle a third male contestant in her arms (sibling-style).

Look, I understand that Idol is a TV show as much as it is a singing competition. I accept that successful musical artists need to have personality and personal charisma as much as they need to hit their notes. And I love that Nicki and Keith (and even Mariah and — heaven help me — Randy) were all able to articulate their myriad reasons for digging some singers while not responding to others tonight. I just get a little skittish when the cuteness of contestants’ faces or the adorkableness of their shtick starts trumping other folks who hands-down outsang ‘em, ya know what I mean?

Anyhow, let's cut to the set list for the second "sudden death" episode of Idol‘s 12th season — along with my letter grades for every performance:

Paul Jolley: Keith Urban’s "Tonight I Want to Cry" | Grade: B-
Johnny Keyser: Jason Mraz’s "I Won't Give Up" | Grade: B-
J’DA: Adele’s “Rumour Has It” | Grade: B-
Kevin Harris: Bryan Adams’ “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You” | Grade: B
Elijah Liu: Bruno Mars’ “Talking to the Moon” | Grade: C-
Chris Watson: Otis Redding’s "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" | Grade: C+
Devin Velez: Beyoncé’s "Listen" | Grade: B+
Charlie Askew: Elton John’s “Rocket Man” | Grade: C-
Jimmy Smith: Radney Foster’s "Raining on Sunday" | Grade: C
Curtis Finch, Jr.: Luther Vandross’ version of “Superstar” | Grade: A-

¡RESULTS!
Put through to the Top 20 by the judges: Curtis, Elijah, Paul, Charlie, Devin
Eliminated by the judges: Jimmy, Kevin, JDA, Chris, Johnny

I’ll be back overnight to update this post with full reviews of every contestant — bookmark, refresh, and enjoy! — but until then, let me turn things over to you. What did you think of the first half of the American Idol Top 20 guys? What did you think of the judges' feedback in a live setting and how did you feel about their decisions? Who was your favorite? thumbnail Post Mortem: Beauty and the Beast EP Weighs In on the [Spoiler], That Scene and What Comes Next
Feb 22nd 2013, 02:59

Warning: The following contains major spoilers from this week’s episode of Beauty and the Beast.

Matters of love… and death… loomed large this week on The CW’s Beauty and the Beast. Starting with the sadder latter, when Darius got into a bit of a pickle with some thugs he owed money to, Vincent beasted out and leaped into action, all in the name of saving Catherine’s sister Heather from being whacked as a witness to the illegal dealings. Alas, in the course of doing so, Vincent got Darius killed — the first innocent to die by his hands.

As for the love… well, at the climax of an episode that spent much time teeing up a fake, then possibly real, break-up between Catherine and Vincent, the show zagged instead of zigged and had the beauty proclaim her love for her beast. He responded in kind and then some, as they finally went all in on the kiss that for weeks has evaded them (and in turn taunted fans).

Knowing that you’d crave more, more, more, TVLine reached out to executive producer Brian Peterson about this week’s big happenings and the (sex-y?) twists to come when Season 1 resumes on March 14.

TVLINE | At the time I spoke to Sherri Cooper in early December and she said a first kiss was coming, did you all know back then that it would land in this midseason finale?
You know, everything on the show has been a constant conversation and has been slightly in flux because we're trying to really pace things a certain way, to not hold things too long. We had somewhat intended it [to happen to by this point], but we weren't positive. But now that it’s shot, it's really going to escalate. We're not going to do one of those things where we tease it and then pull it away. We're really going to keep heating things up.

TVLINE | Was it important to you to bundle with this moment their exchanging of the L-word?
We want to make this show feel as real as possible, but it's also a bit of the “epic love” that everybody's hoping for. So we really wanted to hit the beats the way that you'd want them to fall. They say they love each other before things escalate beyond that.

TVLINE | But is it safe to say that, as much as you want to “keep heating things up,” there’ll be no sex quite yet?
I would keep watching. We really wanted to have a lot of integrity as far as the way that would play out. Coming back in the next few episodes, you'll see their relationship change pretty dramatically.

TVLINE | On a very different note: Is Joe going to be particularly fired up coming out of Darius’ tragic death?
He is going to be furious, and that's going to really drive the next several episodes for sure. He is out for blood and out, for vengeance.

TVLINE | Is this where Sendhil Ramamurthy’s “great antagonist” DA comes in, as the guy leading the new charge to hunt down the beast who killed a hero’s brother?
Yes, and he is fantastic. He comes in and creates a task force specifically to hunt this thing — and Cat ends up on that task force. She ends up right  smack dab in the middle of everything.

TVLINE | And how is Vincent himself going to cope with his role in Darius’ death? Is he going to make it a priority to hunt down the thugs that pulled him into this mess?
That's a big part of the next episode. It is all about trying to track down the one witness who escaped [the crime scene]. It s very much is about Joe trying to hunt Vincent and Vincent trying to exonerate himself, so that he has some kind of a witness to say that he wasn't completely at fault for what happened.

TVLINE | I found it a bit conspicuous that Vincent ran over to Heather and spoke to her while he was trying to wake her up. Is that something that she is going to start to recall, and place him at the scene? Because I was, like, yelling, "Dude, don't let her know you were there!"
When you're a beast, you sometimes don't think things through. It's just what happens. But, what I can tell you is somebody close to Cat, within the next few episodes, is going to find out that she's connected to the beast. And that is kind of a big deal coming up.

Hollywood Life: ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Recap: Damon Helps Elena Handle Another Death

thumbnail 'The Vampire Diaries' Recap: Damon Helps Elena Handle Another Death
Feb 22nd 2013, 02:43

Plus, Elena metaphorically burns her past in an attempt to move forward. But also literally. She literally burns down her past.

“My brother can’t be dead!” This was pretty much Elena’s (Nina Dobrev) mantra through the first half of The Vampire Diaries‘ Feb. 21 episode — until she finally realized that Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) is, in fact, super dead. Then came the real show: tears, screaming, the works. It’s like she’d been bottling up all of her reactions from the millions of deaths in her family — her real parents, her fake parents, Jenna, Alaric, and now Jeremy — then decided to release it all in one CW-Emmy-worthy explosion of rage and grief.

Ultimately, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) decided it would be best to help Elena shut off her emotions completely — an idea they will certainly soon regret — in order to relieve their sweet, sweet doppelganger of her pain. The moment you saw the change in Elena’s eyes, after Damon sire-bond-forced her to forget about her feelings, was nothing short of chilling.

And in one final act of emotional rebellion, Elena set fire to her house, and the audience watched as the final pieces of her humanity — her home, her brother, and even the very diaries from which this whole show gets its title — went up in flames. When The Vampire Diaries returns with new episodes next month, I hope fans are ready for a whole-new Elena. Because that’s exactly what we’re going to get.

Hats off to Nina for delivering a power-house performance, and hats off to Julie Plec for writing quite possibly the best episode in the show’s history. There may not have been as much action as we’re used to, but there was more emotion than I’ve ever seen packed into a single hour of this show.

And that‘s saying something!

Bonnie Has Officially Lost Her Damn Mind

A natural reaction to an ex-boyfriend’s death is sadness. But because Bonnie (Kat Graham) is anything but natural, her reaction to Jeremy’s passing is to kill 12 people, thus dropping the veil between the land of the living and the realm of all dead supernatural creatures. I know she’s a witch, and witches are allowed to be a little bit crazy, but she needs to put down Professor Eyebrows’ Kool-Aid and think about her life choices. Even Caroline (Candice Accola) told Bonnie she was being crazy, and Caroline’s the one who’s been toying with the idea of dating Klaus. So she knows crazy!

Bonnie spent much of the hour having little side chats with Shane (David Alpay), but as we saw during Rebekah’s (Claire Holt) late-night walk around the island, it wasn’t actually Shane that Bonnie was talking to. The bushy-eyebrow’d professor is still very much dying a slow death on the ground of the island, which means the “Shane” Bonnie thinks she’s been talking to is actually a Silas-induced illusion.

I guess without Jeremy around to explain what’s real and what’s not, Bonnie is going to be crazier than ever. This should be fun.

Matt Donovan’s Hugs Cure Grief — And Probably Cancer, Too

As much as I hate to see the good people of Mystic Falls experience even the slightest bit of heartache, I do appreciate the fact that it gives Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) a chance to shine. We all know that what he does best — besides throw a football and look stunningly beautiful — is fix people’s problems with his warm words and supernaturally friendly hugs. As I said last season, he is the human Band-Aid, which we saw tonight as he placed himself over Elena’s gaping emotional wound.

That said, it was especially heartbreaking watching Matt sobbing over Jeremy in his truck. All alone. We’ve seen Matt deal with plenty of tragedies on this show so far — the death of his own sister, Vicki, to name a big one — but I don’t think we’ve ever seen him at the end of his emotional rope. … Until tonight.

Who will console the professional consoler?!

Caroline + Tyler 4ever

When you lose someone close to you, or even when you see someone else lose someone close to them, it usually makes you think about the people that matter in your own life. For Caroline, that person is Tyler (Michael Trevino), who she couldn’t resist calling in the final moments of the episode. You can tell the separation is killing her, which means we can anticipate plenty of hot hybrid sex upon his triumphant return to Mystic Falls — whenever that is.

Stefan & Damon Share A Bro-ment

Another reason I have to salute Julie Plec is for the Stefan/Damon scene she wrote at the end of the episode. Right before Elena literally torched her house and moved in with the brothers permanently, Stefan and Damon shared a moment — a bro-ment, if you will — that perfectly summed up their relationship in very few words. As much as they may fight about absolutely everything, they’re brothers, and they really do love each other.

Stefan: “I just want you to know…”
Damon: “I know, Stefan.”

Brotherly love… so beautiful, right?

So, what did YOU think of this week’s episode? Did Jeremy get an appropriate send-off? Will the gang have to team up against Bonnie when she decides to go fully nuts and bring back Silas? And how much would you pay for a real, authentic hug from Matt Donovan? Drop me a comment with your personal review of this tearjerker!

Chris and Rihanna may wish to keep their tumultuous past behind them, but an upcoming episode of ‘Law & Order: SVU’ is putting their violent 2009 incident back under the microscope!

Law & Order: SVU has released a promotional video for its upcoming Feb. 27 episode titled “Funny Valentine.” The episode tells the story of a singer who was beaten by her hip-hop star boyfriend, and yet remains inexplicably drawn to him. Sound familiar? The show it putting its usual “ripped-from-the-headlines” twist on Chris Brown and Rihanna‘s 2009 incident.

Law & Order: SVU Episode Inspired By Chris Brown’s 2009 Assault On Rihanna

We are all aware of the unfortunate incident between Chris and Rihanna in 2009. Rihanna’s physical and emotional wounds may have healed, but Law & Order: SVU is bringing back some painful memories in their next episode! Though the episode is not officially based on the singers’ relationship, it tells a story that is very obviously inspired by them. Hopefully RiRi and Chris will continue sharing their love for one another in spite of the episode!

The show has put in place a major twist at the end to help destroy the parallel being drawn between the celebrity couple and the fictional episode. Spoiler alert! In the end, the male star who resembles Chris is murdered!

Law & Order: SVU Full Episode Description

For all you curious HollywoodLifers, here is the full episode description: “'Funny Valentine' – A promising singer is brutally attacked by her boyfriend, a popular hip hop star. ADA Barba (guest star Raul Esparza) works to build a case, but the victim refuses to aid the prosecution and, despite Detective Benson's (Mariska Hargitay) best efforts, continues to put herself in danger. The case quickly spirals into a media circus, perpetrated by both the defendant and his uncompromising attorney (guest star Jeffrey Tambor). …Special appearances by Perez Hilton, Dave Navarro and Wendy Williams."
