Spartacus: War of the Damned leading man Liam McIntyre says Starz spared no expense with regard to the show’s impending series finale. “There are 500 special effect shots on average for each individual episode,” explains the actor. “There are over 900 special effects in the final episode, which basically means there’s a special effect every four seconds. That tells you how epic it is.”

But first things first: The second of 10 episodes airs tonight (9/8c) and marks the arrival of two key players — new rival Caesar and possible love interest Laeta. During a chat this week in New York, McIntyre previewed their arrivals, weighed in on his new uniform (or lack thereof) and hinted at a situation that causes his character “to break out the sexual chemistry card” — but from where? (Spartacus’ get-up is many things, but “riddled with pockets” sure isn’t one of ‘em). In fact, that’s where our conversation started:

TVLINE | Your new “uniform” has a sizeable…
… Codpiece?

TVLINE | Yes. That. How did you feel about that?
The biggest part of last season was realizing that G-strings were no longer weird. [Laughs] Codpiece? That’s fine.

TVLINE | My readers — and I do mean my readers — would like to know if Spartacus is going to go full-frontal this season.
For me? No. Sorry. From others? Yes. Frequently. [Laughs]

TVLINE | Did you add a no-nudity clause to your contract?
No. But nobody had the guts to ask, so who was I to argue? [Laughs]

TVLINE | How do this season’s villains measure up to previous Spartacus villains?
Last season, I had the horribly difficult task of measuring up to the legendary [Andy Whitfield]. And this year I sat there thinking, “God, these [new] guys have a really rough gig.” Spartacus is almost more famous for its bad guys than its good guys. But they’re entirely separate [characters] and entirely their own, which is quite a testament to their performances. I think Crassus [played by Simon Merrells] is unlike any other villain. He thinks like Spartacus. They’re like different sides of the same coin. I think Simon’s performance is the standout of the series so far. Then Todd [Lasance] comes along [in Episode 2] playing Cesar. You’ve never seen a Cesar like that. You’ve never seen Cesar in that era, kind of being a sexy, roguish devil. I see him as like a young Brad Pitt. He’s electrifying.

TVLINE | Do we have to wait until the end of the season for the Spartacus-Crassus or Spartacus-Caesar confrontation?
No, there are moments throughout. There are a few different times throughout [the season] where they do intermingle; it gets quite interesting.

TVLINE | What about Crassus’ son, Tiberius?
He’s cool. Great actor. He’s got a cool journey.

RELATED | Starz’s Boss Cancelled, Wrap-Up Movie a Possibility

TVLINE | I sense romance ahead for Spartacus and his redheaded prisoner, Laeta [who also arrives in Episode 2].
One thing I learned from watching Andy’s version of Spartacus was that he was a bit of a player back in day. At the stage where he meets Laeta he needs some pretty big favors, so he decides to break out the sexual chemistry card. There are some moments [between them].

TVLINE | Were you at all disappointed that a Spartacus and Illythia romance wasn’t explored further? She was carrying his child, after all.
I want the last frame of the last episode, after the credits roll, to be their child’s hand coming over the cliff. That would be the spin-off: Caesar vs. The Spartacus Baby. [Laughs] Back in the early days of Spartacus, I was one of the people who was like, “Come on, Spartacus and Illythia — that so works.” It’s so wrong but it’s so right. But it wasn’t meant to be.

TVLINE | What else can you tell me about the finale?
It’s everything I hoped it would be. I’ve seen a rough [cut]. It’s heartbreakingly, devastatingly strong. And I’m almost happy with my performance for a change, which is nice. [Laughs] Everyone brings their A-game. I was exhausted at the end. Just totally worn. I was even bringing [the emotions] home with me after work. I would just cry for no reason. Just totally, crazy, heavy stuff. Technically, [the episode] was twice as big as anything we’d ever done. It’s a good way to go [out]. It’s a very high standard for ending a series. And you [rarely] get to do that on television. I’m very proud.

TVLINE | What’s next for you?
Find a house in Los Angeles.

TVLINE | Will you go out for pilot season?
Totally. I’ve got a bunch of opportunities I would have never had three years ago.

“Anna Gunn is a phenomenal talent and we couldn’t be more excited that she’s going to play Rita," said Vernoff.  "I know Hollywood is a hyperbolic town, but that’s not hyperbole. We are freaking out with excitement!”

Feb 1st 2013, 22:53

Breaking beauty news: The rapper, famous for his major dreads, may have just cut them off! What do you think of his new short crop? Sound off below!

Lil Wayne, 30, has had his signature dreads for as long as we can remember and now, in a drastic turn of events, they appear to be gone and replaced by a super-short cut! The star’s hairstyle may have varied slightly between long dreads, short braids, and more, but some incarnation of the dreads was always there. The star was photographed with rapper Big Boi at his birthday bash January 31 in New Orleans with this brand new ‘do.

Lil Wayne’s Dreads: Now You See Them Now You Don’t

The star, who has been a rap prodigy since the tender age of 11, has been so attached to his hair that he’s even mentioned the ‘do in several songs. In the Ester Dean song “Drop It Low (Remix)” with Chris Brown, he croons, “Hair to the back, Hat to the front,” and in his song “I’m Single,” he raps, “Dreads braided to the back / I’m chillin’ but my swag on full attack.” It would be a shock if he cut it!

Lil Wayne Also Loves Tattoos

Something else the superstar is famous for: his tattoos. “Tattoos are just a way of expressing myself. Me being me. I just went crazy. I don’t know what happened. I think somebody slipped something in my drink, like a drug that’ll make you get, like, a bunch of tattoo,” he told GQ. We’re sure Lil Wayne won’t be stopping his body art any time soon!

Do YOU think Lil Wayne Chopped Off His Locks?

HollywoodLifers, do you think Wayne cut his hair? Or is the angle of the picture misrepresentative of the situation? Sound off below!

Hollywood Life: Isabella Cruise’s Purple Pixie Cut: See Her Dramatic Hair Makeover

Hollywood Life
Latest Hollywood Gossip, News & Celeb Pics
thumbnail Isabella Cruise's Purple Pixie Cut: See Her Dramatic Hair Makeover
Feb 1st 2013, 22:29

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman’s daughter has chopped her red locks to a super-cute lilac crop–what do YOU think of the look? Sound off below!

Isabella Cruise, 20, is jumping on the grey-ish purple hair bandwagon, a la Kelly Osbourne, with her brand new short crop. Just last week Isabella was spotted with a bright orange chin length ‘do and now she’s gone for a completely new hue.

All About Isabella Cruise

Isabella’s new haircut and color may be incredibly daring, but it’s actually quite flattering for her oval-shaped face. The style draws attention to her big brown eyes and highlights her  face shape. Not to mention, the hard-to-pull-off color complements her alabaster skin tone. While a crop as daring as Isabella’s isn’t exactly for everyone, we thing she looks great–actually better than ever before! The style gives her a fashion-forward edge that she never had before. Isabella has naturally dark brown locks, which she then dyed a bright orange and of course most recently, a grey-lavender shade.

With parents as famous (and glamorous) as Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise, you would think Isabella would be into all things luxe and glam, but she seems to have shunned the spotlight as well as a dolled up appearance in favor of a grunge look. She’s often seen in flannel shirts and over-sized coats.

Isabella, the adoptive daughter of Tom and Nicole now lives in Los Angeles with her long-term boyfriend, Eddie Frencher. In fact the pair is rumored to even be engaged! Both Isabella and her brother Connor Cruise are Scientologists like their father, however, their mother is no longer a part of the religion. While their beliefs differ, Nicole is still supportive of her kids. Nicole has said she completely respects their beliefs.

HollywoodLifers, do YOU love Isabella’s hair makeover? Sound off below!

Hollywood Life: Best Super Bowl Commercials Of 2012: The Top 5 Ads — Watch

Hollywood Life
Latest Hollywood Gossip, News & Celeb Pics
thumbnail Best Super Bowl Commercials Of 2012: The Top 5 Ads — Watch
Feb 1st 2013, 22:06

Go back in time with HollywoodLife.com, as we pay tribute to last year’s most memorable Super Bowl ads!

Because we all know the real point of the Super Bowl is to watch the year’s best commercials — all that “football” stuff is basically an excuse to refill your snack plate — HollywoodLife.com is eagerly anticipating what Sunday’s game will bring. But first, let’s take a stroll down memory lane and relive our five favorite ads from last year’s big game!

Chrysler Super Bowl Commercial: ‘Halftime In America,’ Starring Clint Eastwood

As a filthy rich Hollywood icon, Clint Eastwood can’t relate to the average American — or even the average human, for that matter — but he still lent his gravelly baritone to Chrysler’s uplifting commercial about Americans remaining hopeful in a struggling economy. I didn’t really understand what he was talking about, but everybody told me it was inspirational, so here it is!

VolkswagenSuper Bowl Ad: ‘The Dog Strikes Back’

Sometimes the best commercials are the ones that leave you thinking, “What the hell did I just watch?” Enter Volkswagen’s “Dog Strikes Back” ad, which began as the adorable story of a dog who just wanted to outrun a car — then suddenly turned into an intensely realistic Star Wars parody.

Honda Super Bowl Commercial: ‘Matthew’s Day Off,’ Starring Matthew Broderick

Arguably one of the most-hyped Super Bowl commercials of the year, this spot for Honda revived one of the most beloved slackers of ’80s cinema: Ferris Bueller! Matthew Broderick was just as monotone and fourth-wall-breaking as ever, and even though the commercial wasn’t funny — like, not at all — we’re total suckers for ’80s nostalgia.

Acura Super Bowl Ad: ‘Transactions,’ Starring Jerry Seinfeld

Speaking of nostalgia, remember Seinfeld? Of course you do, because Jerry Seinfeld is a national treasure. That’s why we loved Acura’s 2012 ad, which found the observational comedian doing what he does best: observing stuff! He even brought back the Soup Nazi — which, as we all know, is history’s most beloved Nazi.

Kia Optima Super Bowl Commercial: ‘A Dream Car For Real Life’

The idea of a tiny little man tip-toeing around your bedroom while you sleep is admittedly unsettling — unless he’s actually the Sand Man, and he’s making your wildest dreams come true! And seriously, what red-blooded American man doesn’t dream about cars, bikinis and Mötley Crüe? Terrorists and Communists, that’s who!

Hollywood Life: ‘Project Runway’ Designers Make Ping Pong Uniforms For Susan Sarandon

Feb 1st 2013, 22:04

Designer and former 'Runway' contestant Michael Costello talks us through the latest episode in his recap. The designers are commissioned by Susan Sarandon to redesign her ping pong club’s uniforms!

This week, designers will work in the same teams: let’s just say Dream Team looked startled about that. I would be too! I remember my team challenge in Season 8 was the worst day of my life! Everyone threw me under the bus. I felt like that bus kept running me over and over!

Episode 2: The Designers Take On Ping Pong Club SPiN

The challenge this week is to design uniforms for the waitresses, waiters, and ball boys and Susan Sarandon's ping pong social club, SPiN. Can I just say that I was secretly wishing the challenge would have been to design new looks based on the movie Thelma and Louise, or maybe do a retrospective look based on The Witches of Eastwick! It would have been amazing. Wishful thinking. Each team is creating 5 looks: 3 waitresses and 1 waiter, and 1 ball boy look. The best part about this challenge is that "Balls are our business," SPiN’s slogan, has to be incorporated on the ball boys’ uniforms. That sounds pretty hot if you ask me.

After learning the challenge, designers work as SPiN employees to get a full feel for what they need to design. Putting a bunch of designers together to work as waitresses and ball boys can be equal to chickens running around with their heads cut off. Hopefully Tu's career as a fashion designer will work out for him because I don't think a regular job such as being a waiter is cut out for him. The boy was breaking things left and right! I just hope being a ball boy he don’t break his own balls!

As the teams begin to brainstorm and design, Ben immediately takes the role of leader for the Dream Team. I hope this does not turn into another Gretchen Jones situation. I want to like you, Ben, I really do.

Along with team work comes conflict. Cindy is feeling like Ben is "sticking to her like glue" and micromanaging her, but to be honest, with her design last week I would be too! Hot mess. Hot mess. Not saying that she is not, but poor Cindy, the sweet old lady thinks that she is the weak link after escaping elimination last week. Come on Cindy, get it together.

Uh oh, looks like tables have turned this challenge, team Keeping It Real doesn't have a solid idea yet, while Dream Team already know what they want to do with the looks. I have to say, Joseph is like a big kid with his love for polka dots and his line of cat sweaters. I want to put him in my pocket — so precious. I’m really excited to see more from him.

I take back that the tables have turned on this challenge: team Keeping It Real is once again doing great and all putting in positive input to each other's designs while the Dream Team is scattered. James is very determined to work on his own and not take anyone’s input to use. Looks like he is setting sail of his own ship to the island of elimination…

Meanwhile, Cindy has changed from the sweet old lady to a teenage girl with a bad attitude. Hopefully she doesn’t turn into the most hated girl in high school. I know I was!

Cindy is not the only one, Patricia is starting to gain an ego and is working for a tribe of her own, disregarding the rest of her team. But who cares, I really like her I am hoping she will yell across the room in that incredible yelling thing she does. She has my vote!

All in all, it looks like the Dream Team is looking like team Struggle again. Let’s see how everything looks once it hits the runway.

This weeks lovely guest judge is Susan Sarandon, owner of SPiN. As Dream Team’s looks are coming down the runway, some looked decent but some just didn’t cut it. Especially James’s look, and Cindy and Ben’s look. Let’s hope team Keeping It Real’s looks bomb it so the Dream Team can have a little hope.

Unfortunately team Keeping It Real’s looks all look pretty good and the judges seemed to like them. As predicted, team Keeping It Real won this challenge and Layana was the winner of the challenge. I couldn’t have agreed more — I really like what she did and she really worked hard and maintained a positive attitude in this challenge .
Sadly James‘s ship did sail to the island of elimination which proves there is no I in team.

How I Met Your Mother fans, are you ready to glimpse a dark new side of Robin Sparkles?

The pop star returns in Monday’s episode (CBS, 8/7c), but this time around, she’s not in such a great place.

"We see this huge controversial moment in her career that’s akin to the Milli Vanilli-skipping-CD record moment," previews executive producer Craig Thomas, who recently joined star Cobie Smulders on a conference call to talk all things Robin Sparkles and Canada.

Read on for scoop on the “fantastic and bizarre” fourth installment from the “Let’s Go to the Mall” crooner, and then scroll down for a video sneak peek!

YOU DRIVE ME CRAZY | "The central theme of this episode is obsession," teases Thomas. "What’s the fine line between love and insanity? And can anyone become obsessed and stalkery?”  Abby Elliott’s character, Janet, comes into Ted’s life, Thomas says, and “sparks this entire episode and the debate of what’s charming and what’s alarming?" As in previous chapters, the reappearance  of Robin’s former pop self plays heavily into her relationship with Barney. "Robin reveals that she was very much obsessed with somebody in her past," previews Smulders. "She acted a little bit crazy. It makes Barney go out there and try to find that person. He becomes obsessed with finding this person. He goes on this mission, and at the end, [he] finds this video."

YOU OUGHTA KNOW | The latest tune from Robin Sparkles will no doubt remind you of another Canadian recording artist. Alanis Morissette "was an inspiration both in sound and in hair," says Thomas. Like the Jagged Little Pill musician, our favorite fictional teen idol will take on a darker, edgier persona — complete with an angry, grungy look —  in "P.S. I Love You."

"It was a lot of fun in the hair and makeup room," shares Smulders. "There was some wigs used and a lot of wardrobe changes. Anytime we get to go on set and just let things happen and just have fun – and when you’re shooting a music video, especially on our show, there’s no dialogue — whatever happens, happens. We were able to create this really bizarro video." In fact, "it may be the craziest Robin Sparkles yet," adds Thomas. "When we were recording the song in the music studio, we were pushing Cobie to go for it and go completely insane. There were a few takes where she had so much fun going really big and full-throated screaming and insane, and and I think she thought maybe we weren’t going to use those takes. Well, we did. Sorry, Cobie. It’s fantastic and bizarre."

SEEING STARS | A flurry of famous Canucks – Jason Priestley, Alex Trebek, Alan Thicke, Paul Shaffer, k.d. lang and many more – invade the episode, as does James Van Der Beek as Robin’s loser ex-boyfriend Simon. But there’s one person the show went after and couldn’t land. "We tried to get in touch with the lead singer of The Crash Test Dummies [Brad Roberts], and our casting person could not find him," reveals Thomas, adding that they also "tentatively" reached out to Morissette, but "ultimately, it didn’t work out." Meanwhile, a discussion of what Canadian shows and artists were huge for Smulders growing up – Alanis, of course, as well as Breaker High and Degrassi High – uncovered another omission. "We should have gotten someone from Degrassi!" exclaimed Thomas. One guest star you don’t have to fret about: the robot, who definitely makes an appearance.

THE END OF A SAGA | Will Robin Sparkles’ fourth installment be the last? "We’d never rule anything out on this show," says the EP. But should she hang up her jelly bracelets after this episode, that would be OK by Thomas, too. "We’re pretty happy with this as a potential final chapter of Robin Sparkles. People will see how this bridges the gap between the Robin we’ve seen before, what came next and what was the end of Robin Sparkles’ career. If it’s the end, it feels like a fitting ending."

Hollywood Life: Khloé Kardashian: Who She’d ‘Bone’ — Scott Disick Or Kanye West?

Feb 1st 2013, 21:28

Yes, you read that headline correctly! Khloé was put in tough spot when she was asked which of her older sister’s boyfriend’s would she rather ‘bone’ — Scott or Kanye? Watch the video here.

Khloé Kardashian was put in a tough spot by Andy Cohen when he asked her to pick between her sisters Kourtney and  Kim Kardashian‘s boyfriends. After severely dissing Kris Humphries, Khloe was forced to answer who would she rather sleep with if she had to pick! The third eldest Kardashian was appearing on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live on Jan. 31, and in a round of trivia she was asked to pick between Kanye West or Scott Disick! Read on to find out who she picked and watch the video.

Khloé Kardashian Chooses Between Scott Disick & Kanye West

Khloé, 28, sat down with Andy and Titanic star Victor Garber for some fun Super Bowl trivia, when talk turned to her crazy family. Khloé’s sister Kim, 32, is currently loved up and pregnant with Kanye’s baby, while Kourtney, 33, and Scott, 29, are happy and raising their two kids Mason, 3 and Penelope, 7 months.

And Andy really put Khloé in the hot seat when he asked her to pick between Scott and Kanye, 35. At first she hesitated, and then she finally made her choice: Kanye!

During a round of “Not Plead the Fifth,” Andy asked Khloé which of her sisters’ beaus she’d rather get intimate with: “Who do I want to bone?! I can’t bone, they both are having babies with my sisters!” she replied.

“I’m really proud of Scott right now, I’m really liking Scott and I’ve always loved Kanye,” the reality star said. “But since I’ve only gone black, I got, like once you go black, you stay there so,” laughed Khloé, who is happily married to Lamar Odom.

LOL! I wonder how Kourtney felt about Khloé dissing Scott, and also how Kim felt about Khloé hankering after her man!

Khloé didn’t just make an awkward decision between her sister’s boyfriends, she also took the time to reveal her favorite sibling: Kim!

Khloe was asked to rank her siblings in order of who she likes the most. Naming Kim first and Kourtney second, she put brother Rob, 25, last, admitting that she read Rob’s “25 Things You Don’t Know About Me” in Us Weekly — where he named youngest sibling Kylie Jenner, 16, as his “favorite sister.” ”I hate him right now!” Khloe joked.

What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Are you surprised to hear Khloé choose Kanye? Who would you choose?
