Ever wondered what it would be like if Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) went on a double date with Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Rebekah (Claire Holt)? We’ll sort of get our answer when the unlikely foursome takes a trip on the Feb. 7 episode of The Vampire Diaries — and much to the surprise of absolutely no one, it’s super awkward.
In this sneak-peek clip from the episode, titled “Into The Wild,” Damon and Elena discuss the other couple — specifically how Stefan is obviously just using Rebekah to get back at both of them. (But is he really? I can’t be the only one who felt crazy chemistry between Stefan and his ex during the past two episodes, even when they weren’t banging each other’s brains out.)
Either way, neither Damon nor Elena is thrilled to have “Stebekah” along for the ride.
Damon & Elena’s Conversation, Word-For-Word:
Elena: I’m not apologizing for not wanting them here.
Damon: You know Stefan just brought her here to make it seem like he’s moving on. He wants you to think that he’s over you, and he wants me to think that I can’t get under his skin.
Elena: You know, you’re right. With any luck, I’ll only have to tolerate it for a few more days; then we’ll find the cure, and I’ll never have to deal with her again.
Damon: Human Rebekah… I can’t imagine her without fangs.
Elena: You never talked about what you’ll do with the cure once we find it. Will you take it?
Damon: I don’t like to speculate.
