There was no murder on the dance floor on the season premiere of ‘Dancing With the Stars’ — just a dog! Giggy Vanderpump stole the show in his little tuxedo, while Kellie Pickler and Zendaya danced their way to the top of the scoreboard.
On March 18 eleven nervous celebrities took to dance floor on Dancing With the Stars, and there were the good, there were the bad, and there were the ugly! The show kicked off with every couple walking down the stairs, and the girls really proved that this is their season to shine. While Kellie Pickler and Zendaya killed it, the male stars such as Andy Dick and D. L. Hughley crashed and burned. And as the youngest contestant ever on the show, Zendaya walked away with the highest score of the night, but not before jumping off the judge’s table!
Kellie Pickler & Derek Hough
Talk about a front runner — Kellie was amazing! Dancing to “Domino,” Kelly proved she is a contender, and she was nearly as good as her partner Derek Hough! Kellie was fast, fierce and fabulous, and I can safely assume she will be in the final.
“The shapes of things to come look very, very interesting” said Bruno Tonioli. “She’s got sass and she’s got class,” said Carrie Anne Inaba.
Score: 21
Victor Oztiz & Lindsay Arnold
Victor Ortiz danced with Lindsay Arnold and their foxtrot to “Daylight” was seriously lackluster. The pro boxer was called “surprisingly light footed” by Bruno, and overall he got shockingly good commentary, even though he kinda sucked. Len Goodman said there could have been more “wows,” but overall he scored OK.
Score: 18
Indo Rademacher & Kym Johnson
Crazying things up this season, Ingo Rademacher proved that he is more than just a doctor on General Hospital, when he kicked butt doing the first ever contemporary dance on DWTS! Even though he was AMAZING dancing to “Yellow Moon”, Len said he was “not convinced.” Huh? Bruno and Carrie Anne told him he was cray cray, and the legend that is Tom Bergeron told Len he was still stuck in the prohibition era. Oh Tom!
Score: 20
Lisa Vanderpump & Gleb Savchenko
Now you know that Lisa Vanderpump was not going anywhere with out Giggy the dog! Lisa began her dance with Giggy in her arms, and he wore a pink and black tux to match her stunning pink dress. Lisa failed to impress Len, who said she “staggered about.” Meow! Bruno called her Luscious Lisa and says that she was good but all her jewels weighed her down. Only from a Real Housewife!
Score: 18
D. L. Hughley & Cheryl Burke
D. L. began his Cha Cha Cha in a light up jacket, and things went south from there. Dancing to “Low”, D. L. and Cheryl Burke‘s dance lacked any heat, and it was definitely the worst of the night. “You have terminated the Cha Cha Cha,” said Bruno, and Carrie Anne’s words were not much better! Sadly D. L. got the lowest score of the night.
Score: 12
Zendaya & Val Chmerkovskiy
At 16-years-old Zendaya is not just one of the youngest ever contestants on the show — she is also one of the best ever! Not only did she jump off the judges table, she KILLED it on the dance floor when she danced contemporary with Val Chmerkovskiy. Len told her that she was “great” — a compliment he has never given on the opening night before, while Bruno was bowled over.
I call it right now — we have a winner!
Score: 24
Sean Lowe & Peta Murgatroyd
Catherine Giudici was sitting front row and center to watch her Bachelor beau dance in his pyjamas. I mean a smoking jacket! Sean Lowe and Peta Murgatroyd danced to the “Power of Love” and Sean gave a mediocre performance, but it was fun and frisky. More muscle next time Sean — optimize your abilities! However, Sean foxtrotted his way to a decent score!
Score: 19
Alexandra Raisman & Mark Ballas
Alexandra Raisman showed a lot of cleavage while dancing with Mark Ballas, and her Cha Cha Cha to One Direction was very lively! She used her gymnastic powers to kick higher and dip lower than many of the other contestants, and I have a feeling that Aly will be around for a while.
Score: 21
Dorothy Hamill & Tristan MacManus
Dancing contemporary to “Tiny Dancer”, Dorothy gave a promising contemporary performance, and the judges enjoyed it. Not the most spectacular of the night, but it was sweet and pleasant. Dorothy said that her battle with cancer inspired her to do the show, after following fellow figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi‘s lead, and she was “very happy” with her high score.
Score: 21
Wynonna Judd & Tony Dovolani
Wynonna Judd played the part of the bad girl at mass during her performance of the Cha Cha Cha with Tony Dovolani, and she barely moved! What Wynonna lacked in movement however, she made up for it in sass. Girl is a badass! Bruno told her to “give it more; be more passionate,” while Len told her it was “great first try.”
Score: 18
Andy Dick & Sharna Burgess
Funny man Andy failed at the Foxtrot, but he sure brought comedy and personality to the floor! He and Sharna Burgess gave a cute, if not fantastic performance and Bruno compared him to kooky director Woody Allen! He said it could “have been smoother”, but he did not totally slam him, and said he still “really enjoyed it.”
Carrie Anne was “touched” by his performance, while Len said he had “the fluidity of Robocop!”
Score: 17
Jacoby Jones & Karina Smirnoff
Super Bowl winner Jacoby Jones freaked out his partner Karina Smirnoff by having knee surgery right before the show began, but he sure didn’t look injured! Damn that boy can dance! Seriously, he was without question the best male of the night, and of course he included his famous squirrel dance when dancing the Cha Cha Cha to “Good Feeling” by Florida.
“You’ve got the moves!” sqeuled Carrie, but Len totally slammed him! He said his performance was good, but his “technique was all wrong,” while Bruno called him the potential winner of the whole season. What a mixed review!
Len needs to chill out, Jacoby was amazing!
Score: 22
This was a really promising start to the season, and Jacoby, Zendaya and Kellie are definitely the front runners!
What do YOU think HollywoodLifers? Who did you think was the best dancer? Is Zendaya going to win?
