‘The Evil Queen’ met her match this week, but Regina’s latest foe could also be putting everyone else in danger.

When will the villains of Storybrooke learn to stop trusting each other? The April 28 episode of Once Upon A Time was a parade of devious double crosses, and somehow, every betrayal led back to Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue).

It all began when Tamara and Owen offered Hook the key to kill any magical creature — specifically his “crocodile” (Robert Carlyle) — if he agreed to betray Regina (Lana Parrilla) and use her to find Owen’s father. But Hook knows a better option when he sees it, so he went straight to Regina and told her everything. Sadly, he’s occasionally as naïve as he is beautiful: The wicked mayor used him as “bait” to distract Maleficent while she snatched the “trigger” for a powerful spell from Snow’s (Ginnifer Goodwin) glass coffin.

And that’s when Hook revealed he was actually double-crossing Regina the whole time! Apparently Owen and Tamara cooked up a handy little gadget with the ability to disable magic, which is how Hook managed to survive his brush with Maleficent.

Meanwhile, Emma (Jennifer Morrison) finally started to suspect that Tamara could be the “she” August had warned her about, giving Henry (Jared Gilmore) — as well as countless fans on Tumblr — false hope that she and Neal might get back together someday. Pushing that fantasy even further, Henry got super-stoked about the idea of his family reuniting in an Enchanted Forest castle.

Sadly, Emma and Henry’s investigation into Tamara yielded no concrete evidence — too bad they didn’t spend their day following Regina around — so they’re pretty much back to square one. Minus the magic bean field, which Regina apparently torched before snagging a few for herself.

Back In The Enchanted Forest…

Real talk, this week’s walk down Memory Lane was kind of a snooze-fest. It found Regina transforming herself into a lowly peasant to walk among “her” people, which led to a highly temporary bonding sesh between her and Snow White, before it was revealed — once again — that Regina is pure evil.

Basically, we had the same old ‘Regina is dark and unredeemable’ message beaten into our heads for the millionth time. It felt like the kind of flashback we might have gotten at the beginning of season one. But now, with all the insanity going down in Storybrooke, it felt more like a distraction from what we really should be focusing on.

It advanced nothing, it taught us nothing, and I’m choosing to forget it ever happened.

HollywoodLifers, what did you think of this week’s episode? Will Regina have to unite with Snow and the others to stop Owen? And, seriously, how lame was that fairy tale flashback? Drop me a comment with your review of the episode, and your predictions for the season’s final two episodes!
