‘Game of Thrones’ returns March 31 on HBO. Watch the first official trailer here!
“Death is coming for everyone and everything” isn’t something you normally hear on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, except on Feb. 22 when Jimmy Kimmel — an unlikely vessel, but I’ll take it — premiered the first official trailer for Games of Thrones‘ upcoming third season. It’s a full, solid minute of pure gold, topped off with a sweet flying dragon. (Those things are growing like crazy.)
‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 3 Trailer Observations
0:01 “It’s been a long time, my old friends.” (Yeah, thanks for reminding us.)
0:05 I know enough about the wall to know that no one should ever climb it. Who does this guy think he is?
0:12 “Death is coming for everyone and everything.” Was that Melisandre (Carice van Houten)? Whoever it was, that would make such a dark greeting card.
0:16 Is that Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) shooting an arrow? I’d like to see him do it standing up!
0:22 Seeing Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) with her huge army gave me my first chills of the trailer — besides when it started.
0:25 ”Show them how it feels to lose what they love.” I don’t know who Catelyn (Michelle Fairley) is talking about, but if it’s a Lannister, I’m all for it. You can’t have too many dead Lannisters.
0:28 “I’m going to light the biggest fire the north has ever seen!” I’m glad he’s on Game of Thrones now, but seeing Cirián Hinds just makes me miss Political Animals.
0:34 ”Everyone is mine to torment.” So, in case you were wondering, Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) is still a mega-turd.
0:44 Who’s that hooking up? Looks hot!
0:45 Flying dragons! Medium-sized flying dragons! This gave me my second/third round of chills.
0:49 Just when you think Daenerys can’t look any more badass… insert flames?
