How scary. A Boeing 777 airplane crashed violently to the runway at San Francisco International Airport on July 6, a tragic accident that reportedly killed two people and injured 61 more. As information continues to come in on the cause of this crash, browse through our gallery of the astonishing, horrifying photos from the crash landing.

A sunny day in San Francisco, Calif. turned terrifying on July 6, when an Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 passenger plane coming from Seoul, South Korea crashed on the runway at San Francisco International Airport, causing a fierce fire, significant aircraft damage, and reportedly the deaths of two people, and injuries of 61 more.

Plane Crashes In San Francisco: Two Dead, 61 Injured

The huge passenger jet — which was carrying 291 passengers and 16 staff members, according to CNN — crash landed for reasons still unknown, a violent collision that tore the tail of the plane clear off. The jet, which became engulfed in flames soon after crashing, spun 360 degrees before skidding to a stop on the runway. At least two people died from the crash, while 61 people were injured. The San Francisco and San Mateo County Fire Departments reportedly rushed those injured to local hospitals, according to KTVU.

The pictures of the terrifying passenger jet crash are downright shocking, showing enormous plumes of black smoke that could be seen for miles, and in other photos, the ceiling of the Boeing 777 burned completely off.

There are also closeup pictures taken by survivors from the crash, fresh off evacuating the plane. The gigantic jet sits on its belly just off the runway, spewing smoke and fire as people can be seen fleeing the crash site.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the passengers who were killed and injured, and to all of those involved in the accident and the rescue efforts.
