Pilot Scoop: Oscar Nominee Jacki Weaver Cast as Matriarch in CBS Comedy The McCarthy's Feb 7th 2013, 18:30 Jacki Weaver has parlayed her Silver Linings Playbook fame into a lead role in CBS’ comedy pilot The McCarthy’s, TVLine has learned. RELATED | 2013 Pilot Guide: Scoop on Next Fall’s Possible Newcomers  The half-hour project, from Brian Gallivan (Are You There, Chelsea?) and Will Gluck (Andy Richter Controls the Universe), centers on a sports-crazed Irish-Catholic Boston family. The Oscar-nominated Weaver will play Marjorie, the clan’s loving, exhausted and un-filtered matriarch who loves having her gay son Ronny keep her company when her hubby (Rescue Me‘s Jack McGee) and other children are obsessing over basketball.
