On Saturday, Mar. 23, the world lost Joe Weider, the creator of the bodybuilding empire that founded Arnold Schwarzenegger, after he died from heart failure. Now celebs are taking to Twitter to remember him.

At 93, Joe Weider sadly passed away on Saturday, but the world is not yet moving on. Celebrities have begun tweeting their sadness and condolences to the king of bodybuilding. It all began with an official statement from Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Joe Weider created a full empire; he created dietary supplements, competitive muscle-building contests and several muscle magazines – Muscle and FitnessFlexMen's Fitness and Shape.

Even though he’s passed away, he will be remembered for not all the great things he did, but all the great people he influenced.

Celebs’ Twitter Reactions To Joe’s Death

Arnold was one of many to use social media to express how much Joe would be missed. In addition to a full statement, The Terminator actor tweeted: “Today, I lost a dear friend and mentor.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger Issues Official Statement

Joe was known for discovering Arnold as one of the best body builders of all time. On Mar. 23, Arnold let the world know just how important Joe was to him:

“Joe didn’t just inspire my earliest dreams; he made them come true the day he invited me to move to America to pursue my bodybuilding career. I will never forget his generosity. One of Joe's greatest qualities is that he wasn’t just generous with his money; he freely gave of his time and expertise and became a father figure for me.”

“He was there for me constantly throughout my life, and I will miss him dearly.”

“He leaves behind a fantastic legacy of a fitter world. Very few people can claim to have influenced as many lives as Joe did through his magazines, his supplements, his training equipment, and his big-hearted personality. Joe was known for urging everyone, "Exceed yourself," and there is no question that throughout his life, he did just that.”

Joe Weider will always be remembered as the icon who created an empire.
