Selena Gomez looked amazing as she arrived for her appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman in NYC on Mar. 18. Rhona Kane, Creative Director at Chicago’s famed Blowtique Salon, breaks Selena’s hair look down so you can re-create her look!
Selena Gomez’s Ponytail On David Letterman — Get Her Teased Pony
To get the look, you’ll need just a few things. A teasing comb (Rhona loves Spornette’s Little Wonder), a curling wand, Oribe’s Dry Texturing Spray, Oribe’s Superfine Strong Hair Spray, bobby pins and a hair tie!
Here’s Rhona’s step by step:
“Hint: This look is easiest to execute on hair that hasn't been freshly washed.
Step 1: Apply Oribe's "Dry Texturizing Spray" all over – don't be afraid to work it into the roots! This spray is great for three reasons: 1) It absorbs excess oil so your "poof" will last longer and be more resistant to going flat. 2) Its clean scent freshens up the hair. 3) It gives you loads of texture and added volume!
Step 2: Add some body and curl to the ends of your hair by wrapping large sections around a curling wand. This will give you the playful bouncy ponytail – just like Selena!
Step 3: Section off your hair. Grab the top portion, starting around the top of your ears or your temples, and pull aside to keep it out of the way. Secure the bottom portion with a hair tie.
Step 4: Tease the top! Gently tease the top portion of your hair – the more you tease the more height you'll get in the bouffant. This is a great time to add more texture spray, and Superfine Strong hairspray for hold.
Step 5: Smooth. Lightly smooth back your new poof and secure it around the ponytail using bobby pins. Finish it off with some Superfine Strong hairspray and you're good to go!”

Selena paired her amazing hair and makeup with a black sequin Emilio Pucci mini dress and Brian Atwood‘s black satin ’Nico’ pumps. For the cold New York air, she wore a Dolce & Gabbana coat.
