In a new interview, Selena says that she learned how to handle fame a long time ago. Do you think she might be talking with a certain ex-boyfriend in mind?
Selena Gomez has always handled the spotlight well, but even we were worried about if she’d manage the storm of drama that came after she split from Justin Bieber. Turns out she’s done pretty well, unlike someone else we know!
Selena Gomez: How I’m Able To Handle Fame
“I grew up with the Jonas brothers and Miley [Cyrus],” Selena explained in an interview with The Guardian. ”I got to experience all that at such a young age, unfortunately — or fortunately — that now it just doesn’t faze me.” Selena goes on to say that being a Disney star was the best training she could have got.
“I grew up in one of the biggest high schools in the world – the Disney channel,” the 20-year-old quipped.
As her relationship with one of the biggest stars on Earth fell apart in front of her, Selena took it in stride and actually seemed to improve after the breakup. She attributes her maturity to the positive influences she has: “At this point in my life I have really good people around me,” Selena says.
Was Selena Gomez Dissing Justin Bieber?
In each of these statements made by Selena, it’s very hard not to think that she’s comparing herself to her ex, Justin Bieber. The two have certainly gone in separate directions since splitting up. While Selena shined in Spring Breakers, Justin made the news for taking off his shirt and allegedly assaulting his neighbor (among other things).
When Selena admits that she has “really good people” around her, how can you not think of Justin, whose friends like Lil Twist have been accused of being bad influences?
Selena isn’t stupid — she knows that she’s doing better than her ex, but whether the comments from this most recent interview are specifically directed at Justin is up for debate. It definitely sounds like she could be referring to Justin!
