Following his tragic death, the NASCAR driver was suffering from intensive chest pain, Dick’s brother says. Is this why Dick allegedly killed himself?
On May 16, 71-year-old NASCAR legend Dick Trickle was found dead at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincoln County, N.C., from an apparent suicide. His brother Chuck Trickle has since opened up, saying his death was a “shock,” but adding that Dick was suffering from intensive chest problems, and he “didn't know how much longer he could take the pain." So sad.
Dick Trickle Was In Intense Pain At The Time Of His Death
Dick was suffering from excruciating pain under his left breast in the days before he allegedly took his own life, his brother Chuck told TMZ.
Chuck said that Dick’s death — he allegedly shot himself — is “a shock to me; it’s real hard to think about.”
“He was having a lot of issues with some pain,” Chuck said. ”He had sharp pain by his left breast and constant hard pain. He was very down. He more or less said he didn't know how much longer he could take the pain."
Chuck also said Dick went to the doctor twice a day to remedy the issue, and he underwent several MRIs and CAT scans. The source of the pain was never discovered.
However, multiple sources claim Dick had been depressed before his death, and that was the reason behind his alleged suicide.
Dick Trickle Found Dead At 71
According to the North Carolina Police Department, Dick shot himself around 12 p.m. on May 16. Emergency responders received a 9-1-1 call before Dick’s death, claiming that there would be a dead body in the cemetery.
Responders tried to desperately to make a return call, but they were unsuccessful. Emergency responders found Dick’s body near his pick up truck. His body was taken from the cemetery and transported to a nearby hospital. The NASCAR driver left a suicide note on the scene, according to TMZ.
