It’s finally official. Three months after ‘The Glee Project’s’ future was first reported to be in jeopardy, Oxygen has decided against ordering a third season, HollywoodLife.com’s sister site TVLine reports.

Oxygen has decided to axe The Glee Project, the reality series that previously catapulted Blake Jenner, Alex Newell, Samuel Larsen and Damian McGinty to the Glee mothership, after two seasons.

"The Glee Project will not be returning to Oxygen, but we are extremely proud of this series which launched the careers of several talented individuals. The show had so much heart and we thank Ryan Murphy and all of the creative talent who helped make the series a critical darling,” the network announced.

The decision to cancel the series was made “several weeks ago,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com’s sister site TVLine, noting that it had nothing to do with the recent passing of Glee star Cory Monteith on July 13.

The Glee Project’s future was first reported to be in jeopardy in April, when FOX’s late renewal of Glee didn’t leave the Oxygen series enough time to get a new installment up and running. In turn, The Glee Project wouldn’t be able to deliver a winner in time for the start of the high school musical’s fifth season.

What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Are you sad The Glee Project was canceled?
