American Idol judges Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson had to cut five more men in the last sudden death round in Vegas. The top 20 have been selected — are YOU happy with the results? According to the Twitter reading on TV, fans disagreed with the cuts by 70%! Read our full recap below.
The Guys Sing For Survival
Mathenee Treco – "Don't underestimate the power of your voice when you're entertaining," Keith said. Nicki said it sounded "karaoke." Randy asked, "Do you know who you are?"
Gurprett Singh Sarin – Randy said, "Honestly, it was terrible."
Vincent Powell got a standing ovation from Mariah, Randy and Keith! Mariah said, "Finally."
Nick Boddington — "I didn't get that connection," Keith said. "It wasn't your best," agreed Nicki. Mariah said she felt a lost connection as well.
Josh Holiday played the piano as he sang an original song. Keith said he was waiting for a raw, passionate moment from Josh. “I don’t know if I was wowed,” Randy said. Mariah said she was really impressed he did an original song.
More Guys From The Top 20 Sing
David Oliver Willis — “I loved it,” Keith said. Randy said he liked that he was different and he thought his voice was actually bigger than the song choice. Mariah said she was intrigued by his story and that the crowd seemed to love it.
Bryant Tadeo sang “New York State Of Mind” and had the entire audience on their feet! Keith said he thought it was a great song choice. Nicki said she wasn’t a fan. Randy said he loved the beginning but was waiting for something more.
Burnell Taylor sang a John Legend song and sounded remarkably similar. “I liked that performance, I really did,” Keith said. “Right now, literally today, I would pay to see you sing. The best tonight, by far,” Nicki said. “This was fantastic,” Mariah said.
Lazaro Arbos got one of the biggest applauses from he crowd. Keith, who wrote and sang the song, said it wasn’t a good song choice — haha! Randy said the chorus was his sweet spot and that he should try to relax. Mariah said his performance was pure and emotional.
Cortez Shaw — “That was a bold, brave move, but in the end, there was redemption,” Keith said. Randy said he was a fan.
The Judges Present Their Results
In the end Vincent, Lazaro, Cortez, Burnell and Nick were chosen for the top 20.
The crowd actually boo’d the judges when Bryant and Gurprett were eliminated.
