One Direction Dissed: They Were Named Worst Boy Band Feb 28th 2013, 14:54 One Direction was slammed at the NME Awards on Feb. 27 and he was named Villain of the Year — do you think this is wrong? One Direction didn’t have a very good night on Feb. 27 in their hometown of London. The British boy band was named Worst Band, and Harry Styles was named Villain of the Year. Do you think that this went too far? What Are The NME Awards? The NME Awards were founded by a music magazine called New Musical Express. The first show was held in 1953 and the show is actually pretty legit although the trophies given to the winners of Villain of the Year and Worst Record look like a middle finger. Who Else Won At NME Well Harry and his boys were definitely among their peers although they were snubbed.
