The Duchess of Cambridge may be set to welcome the next heir to the throne, but she is embarking on a pregnancy tradition not like any other royal — a baby shower!
Kate Middleton is breaking with royal tradition yet again and celebrating her pregnancy with an event that’s usually reserved for commoners — a baby shower! Her sister Pippa Middleton – who recently published a book on party planning — is planning the fun affair, according to a new report!
Although a baby shower is a fun event that almost every mom-to-be looks forward to, it’s typically not a tradition in royal families. Neither Queen Elizabeth nor Queen Victoria had showers for their first-born babies, but the Duchess of Cambridge isn’t like other royals!
Kate Middleton Hoping Queen Elizabeth Attends Shower
“It was her sister Pippa’s idea,” a friend of Kate’s tells OK! magazine. And even though it’s not a traditional event for royals, or even in the UK (as the source pointed out), the mom-to-be is hoping her husband Prince William‘s grandmother makes an appearance!
“While it’s all going to be very relaxed and fun, Kate is hoping the queen will drop by because the two are remarkably close. They bonded big time and really enjoy each other’s company. Since this is going to be a first for royals, Kate would love the queen to be part of it.”
And since her younger sister is such a party planner, she has it all taken care of!
“Pippa is in charge of decorations,” the insider adds. “Wine and beer will be available — not that Kate will be drinking alcohol, of course There will certainly be none of the hard stuff.”
