The swatting never ends! On May 17, LAPD were called to Miley’s house to find that there was actually no real emergency. Swatters seem to be picking on the 20-year-old singer — it was the second time she’s been pranked in less than a year!
Swatters must be beginning to run out of celebrities to prank, because on May 17 a pranker swatted Miley Cyrus’ house for the second time. When will the madness end?!
Miley Cyrus Gets Swatted… Again
The LAPD received a call at about 8:55 PM from a female who claimed to be calling from a closet and reporting shots fired in her home, according to TMZ.
But of course upon arrival, the police were quickly able to determine that it was just the latest instance of swatting. Reportedly, Miley was not even home!
The “Party In The USA” singer now has the honorable (but not really) distinction of being one of the few celebrities to be swatted multiple times. She was the victim of a swatting prank in August 2012, when someone called 911 reporting a home invasion.
Miley revealed that at the time she thought it was all part of an episode of Punk’d. It appears that last night though, she wasn’t even bothered.
Swatting: A Celebrity Prank Epidemic
Swatting is beginning to reach a point of absurdity. Celebs ranging from Justin Timberlake and Rihanna to Ashton Kutcher have all fallen victim to these crank phone calls, and have all experienced SWAT teams rolling up on their homes. At this point it isn’t really a normal day in Los Angeles unless a celebrity gets swatted.
But since it’s clearly very difficult to find and punish the swatting perpetrators, and since more people are likely learning that and becoming more emboldened, we don’t expect to have seen the last swatting prank by a long ways.
