Kate Gosselin wants everyone to know that she’s not racist! Although a photo of her seemingly mocking Asians recently surfaced on the internet, Kate used her website to publicly defend the picture on June 25.

Kate Gosselin, who is a mom to eight half-Korean children, was accused of being a racist when a Twitter user posted a controversial picture of her on June 23. We couldn’t believe the picture when it surfaced, and Kate can’t either, so she defended herself, calling it a “personal photo” that was released without permission.

Kate Gosselin Defends Racist Picture: I’d Be The Last Person To Mock Asians

On the same day Kate announced the September release of her new cookbook on her official website, she also published a post titled “Photo…” to clear up the recent racist rumors.

“This was a happy memory of mine. It was a happy time for me and Jon, smiling and ‘goofing off’ together. Jon and I were opening fan mail together one afternoon — which often filled the garage of our Elizabethtown home — and when we opened this plastic Asian dress up wig sent from a caring fan, we smiled, each taking turns posing in it and snapping photos (on my phone) of each other. Naturally, I ‘slanted’ my eyes to show him my best Asian impression, which made him smile.”

The photo was clearly taken a long time ago, as Jon Gosselin and Kate ended their marriage in December of 2009.

Kate also said that the photo was stored on their “home computer” and was posted without permission.

Kate Gosselin Did Not Intend To Offend Anyone

Kate made it very clear that the photo was not intended as a slur or to offend anyone. She says it was just a funny joke between her and her [ex-]husband.

Kate recognized that she was married to an Asian and thus had eight bi-racial children. In turn, she’s “quite certain that I'm the last person that could be called a racist.”

“Evidently, a fan sent it for me to wear so that I too could ‘be Asian’ like the rest of my family. At that time, a common topic of our show was ‘everybody's Asian’ — except for mommy, so a thoughtful fan figured she'd help me look Asian too! I couldn't be more proud of my eight beautiful children and wouldn't change anything about them or their heritage. They are absolutely perfect just the way they are.”

Kate handled the unfortunate situation with poise and professionalism, but there’s only so much she can do to defend her case with a touchy subject like racism. For her sake, hopefully people accept her explanation!

What do YOU think of Kate’s explanation of her “personal photo,” HollywoodLifers?
