Kim and boyfriend Kanye West love the name North for their new baby girl, but some of her family members were not as enthusiastic! They reportedly asked the couple to reconsider before they signed North’s birth certificate.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West‘s baby North West has caused quiet a stir, not only as the daughter of one of the most famous couples in the world — but also because of her unique name! The proud parents may have a more sentimental meaning behind the name, but their loved ones weren’t as convinced at first.
Family Members Question Kim & Kanye’s Baby Name
Kim and Kanye have insisted that their baby signifies the highest point in their relationship, hence the name North. It’s also a clever play on words — North West. But before baby Nori’s official name was signed, sealed and delivered, Kim’s family gave their two cents.
“Some of her family were like, ‘North? Are you sure? Are you definitely sure?’” an insider tells Us Weekly. The source even added that because the couple took so long to reveal little North’s name, their friends and family members thought they had changed their mind.
But alas, North is here to stay!
Baby North West — The Meaning Behind The Name
Aside from the obvious North West directional meaning, Kim and Kanye named their first child something that is more personal to them than a compass. Kris Jenner revealed on The View on June 25:
I love the name North. I'm pro North, absolutely, the way [Kim] explained it to me was that North means highest power. And she says North is their highest point together, and I thought that was really sweet.
It looks like everyone is officially on board! What do YOU think of Kim’s family being unsure of the name North at first, HollyMoms?
