Paula gave an emotional interview to Matt Lauer on June 26 but some top image experts aren’t buying it. Read on to find out why experts found Paula to be totally insincere!

Paula Deen had her highly anticipated Today Show interview but she failed to say one thing: “I’m sorry.” The chef, who was recently axed from the Food Network after admitting she had used racist language, gave “the worst celebrity apology,” according to image expert and CEO of Strategic Vision, David Johnson.

Paula Deen’s ‘Today Show’ Apology Made It Worse?

Paula said that she didn’t feel like she should have been fired. Although she did tear up during the interview, David told HollywoodLife.com that Paula appeared “melodramatic” and didn’t seem sorry.

“It made the situation incredibly worse,” he told us. “It was the worse celeb apology I’ve ever witnessed. The fact she cried victim. She never apologized for using the word or offending people. She came across melodramatic. She doesn’t seem to understand the magnitude of why people are so upset. It reinforced to me, and others, that original statement that she said, ‘I’m just a white woman in my 60s from the South.’”

Paula Deen’s Make Or Break Interview

One of the things that David thought Paula did wrong was that she said she had only used the “n-word” one time in her life. This goes against everything she said in her court deposition.

“From a PR standpoint she said something that is very dangerous,” David told us. “She said over and over again no that she hasn’t said it and now she could be caught in a lie. She backtracked from her deposition. It’s almost like she doesn’t understand why people find that word offensive. It almost sounded like a challenge to QVC, like she was daring them.”

Paula’s Apology On ‘Today’ — What She Said

We told you that Paula sat down with Matt and said that using the “N-word” was taken way out of context.

“The main reason I am here today is, it’s important to me that I tell you and everyone out there, what I believe, and how I live my life. I believe that every creature on this earth, every one of God’s creatures was created equal,” she said. “I believe that everyone should be treated equal. That’s the way I was raised, and that’s the way I live my life.”

She also went on to say: “I am here today because I want people to know who I am, and people that have worked beside me, have walked beside me, know what kind of person I am. And I am so distressed. People that I have never heard of are now experts of who I am.”

Then Matt flat-out asked Paula if she was a racist, to which she responded: “No, no I’m not, no.”
