The Southern chef’s fans surprisingly don’t care about her extremely ignorant and racist remarks! A large group of people voiced their anger on Food Network’s Facebook page after it was announced that Paula would not be coming back to the network. Are the fans right or wrong to be outraged?

The Food Network did what they had to do on June 21, cutting ties with Paula Deen after she admitted in a deposition to using the N-word and glorified slavery by stating that she once wanted to host a Civil War-era wedding party that featured only black servers. Even though the Food Network’s decision not renew Paula’s contract seems more than reasonable, a whole slew of Paula supporters took to Facebook to voice their outrage. Do they have a point?

Paula Deen’s Fans Speak Out Against Food Network

After Food Network’s announcement that they were dropping Paula, their Facebook page became the host of some serious hate, all from fans who believed Paula had gotten a raw deal.

“Food Network.. I am firing you. Goodbye,” one user wrote. “Food Network: I just cancelled you! You suck for doing Paula ugly after all the money she has made you,” said another.

Many fans seem to think that Paula deserved a “fair trial,” that the network should have waited to see the outcome of Paula’s harassment case before taking action: “Shame on you Food Network, You could not even wait to see what would happen in this case.. you threw your family member under the bus… where is the loyality in our country,” one poster wrote.

“Dear Food Network… I am completely heart broken that you have decided to pull Paula without a fair trial,” said another user.

Paula Deen: Should She Be Given Another Chance After Racist Comments?

What these diehard fans don’t seem to realize is that there cannot be any excuses when it comes to racism — there should be zero tolerance. The sort of ignorance and prejudice that Paula admitted to has to be squashed, no matter how long ago it happened or how much good she’s done for the network. That sort of behavior in this day and age just can’t slide.

We’re obviously in favor of the Food Network disassociating themselves from Paula Deen, but what do you think, HollywoodLifers? Can you see where her fans are coming from? Let us know!
