Musicians have been known to wear their hearts on their sleeves; it’s pretty much in the job description. Some of our favorite stars have used their music to truly express how they feel — and the results are pretty much always stunning. From Selena Gomez’s new album Stars Dance to Rihanna’s somewhat cryptic (are they for Chris Brown?) but telling messages, these celebs prove that the best romantic gestures come in song-form.
Selena Gomez’s Romantic Songs
In a live chat on June 3, Selena broke down the meanings of every song on her upcoming album Stars Dance. Not surprisingly, a majority of them seemed to addressed to or referring to her on-again, off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber! And while some of the songs were more about moving on from the past, one song in particular seemed to be a total lovefest.
Talking about the song “Save The Day” Selena told her fans, “Do you ever have moments where you don't ever want them to end? I've had those moments. It's about saving those moments and never wanting it to go away.” How cute!
Rihanna & Chris Brown: Trading Romantic Messages?
Rihanna and Chris Brown, though currently broken up, seem to still be sending musical messages out there too. Are they trying to connect with each other through song? On May 31, Rihanna tweeted “Told you I’ll be here forever,” referencing her song “Umbrella.” When the song came out in 2007 it wasn’t for Chris, but she may have been repurposing the lyrics for the situation.
And just days later Chris released a remix of Mario’s “Somebody Else.” On the track, Chris sings, "I never saw the day coming / That you would ever wanna leave me / Baby, you told me no matter what / Your heart would always be for me.” Sounds like Chris is playing the part of a spurned lover!
