Taylor Swift thrilled at the Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 13. Despite losing the award for ‘Best Original Song,’ Taylor dished on what it was like writing about someone other than herself!
Taylor Swift arrived at the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California and immediately said to Ryan Seacrest, it’s “such a fancy night!” She told him what it was like writing a song for a movie instead of her usual list of subjects – John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal and Harry Styles!
Taylor was nominated with The Civil Wars for Best Original Song for “Safe and Sound.” The song was written for The Hunger Games. She lost to Adele‘s song “Skyfall” from the movie Skyfall.
On the red carpet, Ryan asked Taylor what it was like writing for the movie:
“It was interesting, because Lionsgate came to us and said, ‘We want you to write from Katniss’ point of view, we want you to completely understand her and come from where she’s coming from’ and we were given such an amazing opportunity to do that [because of] Suzanne Collins, who wrote the book, and Jennifer Lawrence, who portrayed Katniss.”
“My cowriters, The Civil Wars and T Bone Burnett, were amazing. We had this idea that we wanted the song to be about the empathy that goes into this film and the undertones of sympathy and human compassion that go along with such an incredible film with all this action and fighting in it. We wanted to highlight the fact that there’s a lot of heart beneath that.”
Were you upset Taylor didn’t win, HollywoodLifers?
