The twists and turns of the tragic, horribly upsetting story of the double amputee Olympian, who shot and allegedly murdered his model girlfriend, continue. A South African newspaper reports that paramedics found him trying to revive Reeva Steenkamp and that he is now currently under suicide watch in prison. Keep reading for more details.

As more time goes by since Oscar Pistorius, 26, shot and killed his girlfriendReeva Steenkamp, the harder it is to make out what actually happened inside the Olympian runner’s Pretoria home in the early morning of Feb. 14.

New Report: Oscar Pistorius Tried To Revive Reeva Steenkamp

Oscar, otherwise known as the “Blade Runner,” has pleaded that he mistook his Reeva, 30, for an intruder — South Africa is notorious for its high crime rate. But prosecutors have been strong in their insistence to charge Oscar with premeditated murder. Now, there is new information to consider.

According to the South African newspaper Beeld, paramedics arriving on the scene saw Oscar carry Reeva down the stairs and begin to perform mouth-to-mouth, attempting to revive his dying girlfriend. The FHM cover model and face of Avon South Africa was still breathing, according to paramedics, but was soon pronounced dead at the scene.

Though this news does seem to affirm Oscar Pistorius’ explanation and suggest he is telling the truth, the prosecution will likely claim that he had “too little, too late” second thoughts — they and the police have yet to comment on this new update.

Oscar Pistorius — On Suicide Watch

One thing IS for sure — the once-inspirational athlete is struggling behind bars. A source told The Sun, “He is absolutely devastated and struggling to control his emotions,” adding, “There are police concerns over his mental health.”

At his hearing at the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court on Feb. 15, the Blade Runner constantly had to hold his head in his hands and fight back tears as his harsh charges were read to him.

Oscar’s family stated that they will dispute the charges “in the strongest possible terms.” The runner’s uncle, Arnold Pistorius, gave an extended statement, saying, “The lives of our entire family have been turned upside down forever by this unimaginable human tragedy and Reeva's family have suffered a terrible loss.”

Arnold also added, “Oscar — as you can imagine — is also numb with shock as well as grief.”
