The Sandy Hook Elementary School chorus nationwide tour continues on Feb. 10 when they perform live on E!’s Grammys pre-show. But this time they won’t be singing a classic like ‘Over the Rainbow’ or ‘America the Beautiful.’ Read on to find out which 2012 hit song they’ll be crooning!

Before the Grammys begin on Sunday, Feb. 10, Ryan Seacrest plans to fly a crew to Newtown, Conn. to broadcast one more big Sandy Hook chorus performance as part of E!’s pre-show. And since the Grammys features the best and most popular music of the past year, the kids from Sandy Hook will give their rendition of the biggest song of 2012. That’s right — “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen.

Sandy Hook Chorus To Cover Carly Rae Jepsen

The group of 21 kids — which is a different collection of students than the group that sang with Jennifer Hudson at the Super Bowl — hope to get past the horrible pain that their community has suffered since the Newtown massacre through the gift of song. But this performance will be somewhat of a happy departure from the somber, more reflective songs like “Over the Rainbow” and “America the Beautiful.” Those performances had people on the verge of tears, this one of Carly Rae Jepsen’s relentlessly catchy pop track will have everyone dancing with joy.

The children of the Sandy Hook school choir have been in the public eye quite a bit recently, and choir director Sabrina Post insists that the children really wanted to honor their fallen classmates in a moving way.

“This opportunity to do something positive lets the kids know that although a lot of things happen in our world that are not pleasant, like this that happened with us in Newtown, there are many giving people and wonderful things that can come out of life, so don’t get discouraged,” Sabrina says.

It’s a beautiful message, and the whole nation has already been inspired by the bravery, innocence and talent the Sandy Hook choir has displayed in their past performances. It’s only right to let them have a little “Call Me Maybe” fun!

Slain Sandy Hook Teachers To Receive Presidential Medals

Another piece of Sandy Hook-related news that warms our hearts is the announcement that the six teachers who were killed in the shooting will be awarded with Presidential Citizens Medals.

The six brave teachers put the lives of their students in front of their own, and their courageous acts saved countless lives.

The honorees are principal Dawn Hochsprung, psychologist Mary Sherlach and teachers Rachel D'Avino, Lauren Rousseau, Anne Marie Murphy and Victoria Soto.

“These extraordinary educators, who sacrificed their lives to protect students in their care, gave a profound new dimension to the meaning of public service,” said Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal.
