Things may have gotten a bit dark midway through Super Bowl XLVII, but CBS’ coverage of the contest lit up the ratings.
With an average overnight household rating/share of 48.1/71, the Ravens’ win over the 49ers stands as the highest-rated Super Bowl in the metered markets in history, edging out the 47.9/71 notched in 2011 by Fox’s coverage of the Packers/Steelers face-off.
CBS’ calculations are not including the power outage from 8:45 to 9:15 pm EST.
The overnight household rating/share for XLVII also marks a 1 percent gain over last year’s Giants/Patriots match-up. (The 2012 Super Bowl went on to be the most-watched TV program ever, with 111.3 million total viewers.)
The Top 10 metered markets for the night are as follows:
1. Baltimore 59.6/83
2. New Orleans 57.1/77
3. Washington, DC 56.9/80
4. Norfolk 55.8/76

7. Indianapolis 54.2/76
