French Montana’s tour stop in Philadelphia came to a horrifying halt when a drive-by shooting directed at his tour bus hit two fans, killing one. Now, the “Coke Boy” rapper has released a statement to HollywoodLife.com.
French Montana: The Rapper Speaks Out
“My bus was located in the vicinity of the incident that took place,” the rapper says. The Philadelphia Police Department elaborated on the shootout: "At 11.52pm a 27-year-old male was shot once in the abdomen, and he transported to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at 1.30am. A second male, 29, was shot in his shoulder and was taken to Jefferson hospital in a private vehicle. He is in stable condition. No arrests have been made. The situation is under investigation."
Asked if French was involved in the shooting, police responded, “We do not know.” There have been reports that someone in the rapper’s entourage took out their own gun and started firing back.
Continuing his statement though, French insists that he came to Philadelphia in peace. “I had a peaceful concert and was not involved,” he says.
The shooting is another violent tragedy for a music genre that has had plenty of them. We can only hope that scary moments like this raise awareness and allow situations to be controlled rather than exacerbated.
“My deepest thoughts and sympathies go out to the families of the victims, as well as all of those who were affected,” French Montana ended his statement.
