Josh impressed me with his hosting skills — not to mention his singing & dancing. I’m voting for him to come back next year!
Hosting the Kids’ Choice Awards is no easy task. You’ve got to worry about surprise slime attacks, hoards of screaming kids and random mustache alarms. And to top it all off, you have to squeeze all the insanity into 90 minutes. Josh Duhamel may not have been an obvious choice to host this year’s ceremony, but I have to say, he’s one of the best hosts the show has had in years.
Right from the second he blasted onto the screen, I knew we were in for a wild night. And the fact that he imitated pregnant wife Fergie and got her to make a cameo in his opening performance was just the icing on the cake. Is it weird to say I’m jealous of their future child? Because I definitely am.
I also liked that we got to see a totally different side of Josh tonight. We’re used to seeing him in dramas and romantic comedies — usually wearing a lot less than he wore on stage tonight — but we’ve never gotten to see him totally let loose. I honestly couldn’t believe the guy singing and dancing on my TV screen was the same guy who starred in movies like Safe Haven and Win A Date With Tad Hamilton.
The KCAs are notorious for picking high-energy hosts — Will Smith, Jack Black and Kevin James were all legendary — but Josh brought a totally different energy to the show, one I couldn’t help but feel from home.
I hope Josh has himself a fine sleep tonight. He’s certainly earned it.
