After the devastation of the Boston Marathon bombings, terrorist brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were planning to head to New York to attack Times Square.
Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, and his brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, planted two bombs at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on April 15, injuring over 180 people and killing three. Following the Boston bombings, Dzhokhar admitted that the terrorist brothers were planning on heading for the bright lights of Times Square, New York City, next to plant more bombs. How scary.
Boston Bombers’ Times Square Bomb Plot
Dzhokhar admitted to authorities that after the Boston bombings, he and his brother planned to bomb Times Square.
“Last night we were informed by the FBI that the surviving attacker revealed that New York City was next on their list of targets,” Mayor Michael Bloomberg said on April 25.
HollywoodLife.com previously reported that the brothers were destined for New York, before Tamerlan was killed and Dzhokhar was captured.
The brothers carjacked a Mercedes-Benz during their escape attempt on April 19 and not only told the driver that they were responsible for the Boston bombings, but also told him that they were planning on going to New York City, according to the New York Times. The suspects did not reveal what they planned to do there though.
Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis, had an idea. Speaking with CBS News' Face the Nation, he said, "We have reason to believe, based upon the evidence that was found at the scene — the explosions, the explosive ordnance that was unexploded and the firepower they had — that they were going to attack other individuals."
