It’s about to be a… Twitter fight! Call us crazy, but one of the greatest things about celebrities running their own Twitters is that sometimes their anger gets the best of them. Keep reading to see the Twitter feuds between celebs that have truly gotten out of hand!
We love that our favorite celebrities are on Twitter, expressing themselves and connecting with fans — it’s a great way to experience a real side of your favorite stars. But there are times when it gets very REAL, when celebs like the boys of One Direction, Rihanna, and Justin Bieber take to Twitter to air their grievances with another celeb — and that’s when Twitter really gets interesting!
Twitter: Where Celebrity Feuds Go Digital
Sometimes, a celeb hears a diss directed at them and decides to take the war to Twitter. This happened when One Direction heard the Jake Bugg, a little known British singer, said that 1D “must know they’re terrible.” 1D singer Louis Tomlinson took particular offense and tweeted, “Hi @JakeBugg do you think slagging off boy bands makes you more indie?”
A more severe case came when respected journalist Barbara Walters announced on The View that Mariah Carey told her Nicki Minaj threatened to shoot her in October 2012, the female rapper hit Twitter with a fierce message to Barbara: "Barbara Walters didn't reach out from our team barbz," she tweeted. "I guess we're too dangerous. Don't shake if u don't wanna get shook!!!! LmAooooooooooo.” Thankfully, this fight stayed on Twitter and didn’t turn physical.
Rihanna & More: The Huge Celebrity Twitter Battles
But the real Twitter heat comes when celebs trade barbs back and forth. A subtle example was when Kendall Jenner tweeted, “If Rihanna doesn’t perform Complicated tomorrow I’m gunna be very upset #FavSong!” and Rihanna shot back, “Well don’t come.” Short, sweet, heated — that’s how you do a Twitter war.
A longer, more intense Twitter feud unfolded on Apr. 7 after Louis Tomlinson (boy, this guy is quite the Twitter fighter) name-dropped One Direction’s boy band rivals, The Wanted, at a concert. “You even talk about us at your own gigs,” Tom Parker tweeted, “Are you that upset you didn’t get in this band?” And the feud blew up from there, resulting in 12 tweets between the two altogether! That’s going in the Twitter war hall of fame.
Over the years, there have also been feuds involving Justin Bieber, the Kardashians, and many more. Click through the gallery above and let us know — which was your favorite battle?
