Tiger came into The Masters as the hottest player in the game, but unfortunately he fell short. At least this time he has Lindsey Vonn’s shoulder to cry on!

Many were hopeful that the Tiger Woods of old had returned after he won three tournaments in the lead-up to the PGA’s first major tournament, The Masters in Augusta, Ga. But Tiger couldn’t come through on Apr. 14, losing by four strokes to Australian golfer Adam Scott.

Tiger Woods Falls Short At The Masters

While girlfriend Lindsey Vonn watched closely from the crowd, Tiger got off to a slow start on the final day of The Masters. He couldn’t get a birdie for his life for most of his round, and the patented Tiger Woods charge just never seemed to transpire.

He finished the tournament with a score of five-under par overall, and was forced to watch Adam Scott and Angel Cabrera – who both shot nine-under – face off in an exciting sudden death playoff for the green jacket. On the second playoff hole, Adam made a long birdie putt to claim the victory.

Tiger Woods At The Masters: ‘What If?’

Tiger’s 2013 Masters will always contain the question, “What if?” What if Tiger’s shot on the 15th hole on Apr. 12 didn’t hit the flagstick and ricochet into the water? That was the shot that seemed to swing Tiger’s championship chances. At the time he was in the hunt for first place and the shot cost him a stroke, and would end up costing him even more. After going into the water, Tiger illegally dropped his ball, and The Masters rules committee retroactively assessed him a two-stroke penalty.

Sure, Tiger lost by four, but being within two strokes of the lead on Sunday would have changed the dynamic of the tournament completely.

“We could do a ‘what-if’ on every tournament we lose,” Tiger said after his round on Apr. 14. “We lose more tournaments than we win. But I certainly had my opportunities to post some good rounds this week. If I would have posted a number today, I was right there.”

Now there’s nothing left for Tiger to do but go home with Lindsey, pour himself a drink, and hope for better luck next time.
