A source who was there on the scene tells HollywoodLife.com that people who worked in Amanda’s building called the police because she was smoking something suspicious in the lobby. Now they’re telling us why she panicked and threw the big glass bong out of the window of her 36th floor window.
Amanda Bynes has made a series of bad decisions. The 27-year-old was arrested at her NYC apartment on May 23 and taken to St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation and the NYPD tells HollywoodLife.com that she’s still there as of 9:00 a.m. on May 24. HollywoodLife.com spoke to an eyewitness who was there and they tell us that Amanda ran up to her apartment when the learned the police were called!
Amanda Bynes — Why She Threw The Bong Out Of Her Window
A source tells us that police were banging on her door to open up and Amanda “freaked out.”
“She was smoking weed in the lobby and they called the cops,” a source tells us. “When she let the cops in she noticed the bong and threw it out the window. She freaked out and didn’t know what to do.”
HollywoodLife.com also spoke to the NYPD public informations officer who tells us that police arrived to Amanda’s apartment around 4 p.m. They charged the former child star with: tampering with physical evidence, reckless endangerment and criminal possesion of marijuana.
Although she has not been booked at the jail, the officer told us that she could be booked and held at the hospital.

We showed you a photo of Amanda wearing a blonde wig as she was handcuffed and taken to the police station on May 23. She didn’t say a word as she was walking with police, despite the slew of photographers around her.
Amanda was recently put on three years probation after she was found driving on a suspended license. HollywoodLife.com has reached out to the District Attorney’s office, her publicist and attorney — we’re waiting to hear back.
