The ‘Idol’ alumna has reportedly signed on for the karaoke contest’s 13th season. Are you excited?
And I am telling you… Jennifer Hudson is joining American Idol! The Academy Award-winning actress — who famously came in seventh place during the third season of Idol – is part of producers’ new plan for the creatively floundering series, E! Online is reporting.
“It’s Idol alums bringing in the next generation,” a source at Fox tells the site.
Despite being booted early during season three, Jennifer has maintained a positive relationship with Idol. Since her elimination, she has returned to the stage several times — in 2007, 2009 and 2012.
She most recently returned in 2013 to perform “Inseparable” with season 12 finalist Candice Glover.
Are More ‘Idol’ Alumni Returning To Judge?
That’s the plan! According to the same Fox source, producers are also looking to recruit any of the following alumni: Kelly Clarkson, Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken.
Producers reportedly want to return to the show’s original three-judge format, which means one of the aforementioned alumni won’t make the cut — and apparently neither will current judges Mariah Carey and Keith Urban.
