In the first girl vs. girl finale since season three, Candice & Kree sang three songs each in the hopes that America would choose them as their next Idol — who are YOU voting for?
Kree Harrison and Candice Glover both admit that winning American Idol will change their lives — but only one can walk away with the title. After three rounds of singing on the Idol stage for the last time, who are you voting for tonight, HollywoodLifers?
‘American Idol’ Finale — Candice & Kree Battle It Out
For round one, it was Idol creator Simon Fuller‘s song choice.
Kree started the night with “Angel” by Sarah McLachlan. I thought it was a perfect song choice.
Candice sang Adele‘s “Chasing Pavements.” I thought she sounded amazing and looked so comfortable on the stage.
“I’m so proud to be a part of this show, particularly of this season, because this talent is so magnificent. It’s refreshing and it makes me proud of America. Wow. I’m blown away,” Mariah said after the first round.
Randy said both songs were a little sleepy but gave the edge to Candice.
Then Carly Rae Jepsen bopped around the stage while performing her new single “Take A Picture.”
Round Two — A Preview Of The Winning Single
Round two was Candice and Kree’s to-be-released single, should they win.
Kree sang what could be her winning single, “All Cried Out.” Again, sleepy and slow. She also sounded quite strained, but maybe that was just her emotions running wild. She got a standing ovation from Keith, Randy and Mariah.
Candice sang “I Am Beautiful.” I loved her powerful message and the powerful lyrics of the song.
“I love [Kree's] composure. This song made her reach down in her gut more than she ever has before,” Nicki said.
“Both of these songs were tailor-made for the girls,” Keith said.
Keith said Kree won round two, while Nicki said Candice won.
Round Three — Their Last Chance For Votes
Round three was their favorite song of the season.
Kree sang “Up To The Mountain” and got a standing ovation from all four judges. Keith said it was absolutely beautiful. “That right there was a winning performance,” Randy said.
Candice sang “I Who Have Nothing” and got a standing ovation from all four judges as well. I thought it was the best performance of the night! “Superstar, commands the stage. This is a big stage and the fact that you always walk on there and own it immediately — salute!” Nicki said. “You just shot this night to a whole new level,” Randy raved.
