Michelle and Gina were rescued from Ariel Castro’s house of horrors on May 6 after nearly a decade in captivity, but their struggles are far from over. Authorities say the young women are still suffering from debilitating physical and mental after effects from their horrific years of abuse.
Michelle Knight and Gina Dejesus are still suffering the after effects of their decade of repeated physical and emotional abuse allegedly by Ariel Castro. Some of their horrific treatment including being restrained in chains the basement of the house, and being starved for days.
Michelle & Gina Treated ‘Like Prisoners Of War’
Michelle and Gina were rescued along with Amanda Berry, but Amanda has come out as the face of the abuse scandal — and a source reveals to the Daily Mail the reason photos of Michelle and Gina haven’t been released is because they are in such bad condition.
Another source revealed Ariel’s basement was equipped with chains coming from the walls and dog leashes hanging from the ceiling. Michelle and Gina spent most of their time in the basement, and were held in the chains in “stress positions.”
“One of the girls has difficulty moving her head around from being chained up,” one of the sources said. Another source revealed that woman was Gina.
“It was like they were POWs,” another insider revealed. “They had bed sores from being left in positions for extended lengths of time.”
Michelle Knight Released From The Hospital
Michelle was released from MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio no May 10 and hopefully she can start her healing process. Phyllis Marino, a spokeswoman for the hospital released this statement:
“Michelle Knight is in good spirits and would like the community to know that she is extremely grateful for the outpouring of flowers and gifts. She is especially thankful for the Cleveland Courage Fund. She asks that everyone please continue to respect her privacy at this time.”
Michelle, Gina and Amanda were all rescued from Ariel Castro’s house on May 6 after they had all been kidnapped. Ariel has been arrested, and faces the death penalty.
So sad. We hope the women can have a speedy and healthy recovery.
