Breezy makes every slick dance move look so easy when he’s on stage, but in an EXCLUSIVE interview with HollywoodLife.com, the R&B singer revealed that even he had some trouble with the moves in his upcoming movie.
In Battle of the Year, Chris Brown plays Rooster, a member of a dance team that enters into the biggest breakdancing competition in the world. Breakdancing — should be a breeze (no pun intended) for the sure-footed Chris, right? Well, not exactly.
Chris Brown: How Dancing In A Movie Was Harder
Even though starring in a movie in which Chris and his teammates are looking to take the title of the best B-boy team in the world sounds like an easy transition for a natural dancer like Chris, he admitted to HollywoodLife.com exclusively that there’s a lot more to it.
“A lot of people think dancing is dancing,” Chris said. “So you’re dancing and you think you can dance and it’s the same thing, but it’s a lot more strength and courage that you have to have when it comes to [filming].”
Being on stage performing is miles away from breaking out moves in front of a camera, Chris revealed. And it was a lot more effort: “It was a whole bunch of intensity, non-stop dancing,” Chris says.
“The difference from that and my regular stuff — my regular stuff just comes natural. I’m just having fun. But for that movie, you got to focus in, you have to work out. You have to stay in shape.”
Chris Brown: Working Hard On ‘Battle Of The Year’
First of all, it’s amazing to hear that all of the insane moves Chris busts out in his performances just come naturally to him. That fact also makes it even more shocking how hard Chris had to work on Battle of the Year.
But Chris is obviously a pro, and we can’t wait to see the final result when the movie comes out in September 2013. Are you excited, HollywoodLifers?
