Ohhh boy! ‘The Wolverine,’ the latest ‘X-Men’ installation starring Hugh Jackman, is a roller coaster ride of action and plot twists. But the biggest surprise might be what happens AFTER the movie is over! Keep reading to find out.
Back in the good ol’ days of superhero movies (and by that I mean like four years ago), sequels and their plots weren’t revealed until way after the original movie hit theaters. Now, you basically only have to sit through the end credits to find out what the next movie is going to be about. That fact applies for The Wolverine (in theaters on July 26) starring Hugh Jackman, which has a post-credits sequence that you won’t believe!
‘The Wolverine’ Saves The Best For Last
Before we go any further, let’s be clear — there are spoilers ahead.
The Wolverine – Hugh Jackman’s sixth (!) turn as the steel-clawed superhero – ends with Logan, aka Wolverine, thwarting Viper and regaining his immortality by defeating the Silver Samurai, but this is X-Men we’re talking about — the work is never done.
Which leads us to the treat of a scene after the credits run. Returning to the United States from Japan, Wolverine has a chance encounter with Magneto (Sir Ian McKellan)! The X-Men ally announces that Wolverine’s help is required to stop a new enemy who is threatening to exterminate the mutant race.
But Magneto isn’t the only one who shows up. Surprisingly, Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) comes in as well! He’s alive! Wolverine can’t believe his eyes, which is understandable since the last time he saw Professor X the guy was dissolving into particles. But you’re not the only one with powerful gifts, the professor tells Wolverine.
And so, the next X-Men flick, X-Men: Days of Future Past, is set up perfectly, in a quick, post-credits scene.
