Things look to be getting worse and worse for Yeezy. After getting into an altercation with a photographer on July 19, a new report claims that the rapper could actually be charged with a felony for attempted robbery!
A little bad PR has blown up into something way more serious for Kanye West. The 36-year-old rapper and new dad continued his war against paparazzi and photographers on July 19, but he may have gone too far this time.
Kanye West: Now A Felony Suspect For Attempted Robbery?
After allegedly attacking Daniel Ramos, a filmmaker who was taking pictures of him, Kanye tried to grab Daniel’s camera. The struggle resulted in the photographer falling to the ground and needing to be treated by paramedics. HollywoodLife.com reported exclusively that Daniel was taken to the hospital soon after the fight.
But Yeezy reportedly has way more to worry about than a possible misdemeanor for assault. Because Kanye was trying to take Daniel’s camera, the case has been transferred to the Robbery Homicide Unit, who are currently putting together a file, according to TMZ.
The police are expected to hand over their findings to the Los Angeles County District Attorney, who could then pursue charges against Kanye for attempted robbery, TMZ reports.
Kanye West’s Altercation: Photographer Wants To Press Charges
What’s worse, Daniel is reportedly now determined to press charges on Kanye after the altercation, according to TMZ, who also reports that Daniel did sustain injuries from the fight.
But first and foremost, the case will be referred to as an attempted robbery — not a battery case — until those charges are wiped away. It is routine for the D.A. to prioritize and pursue the most serious charges first.
HollywoodLife.com has reached out to the LAPD for an official statement.
Kanye West Won’t Go To Jail After Altercation, Lawyer Says
Los Angeles lawyer, Mychal Wilson initially told HollywoodLife.com exclusively that Kanye likely wouldn’t get into much trouble over the incident.
“Kanye West's lawyer will argue that Kanye was probably defending himself against continual and unwanted advances by the photographer," Mychal said. "It is highly doubtful that Kanye would go to jail for something like this, but I am sure the victim will sue him for damages.”
That may all change though now that attempted robbery is a possible charge.
Kanye has always had a testy relationship with the photographers who follow him around, but it seems that he may have really crossed the line this time.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Is Kanye in trouble?
