Who’s hooking up? Who’s throwing down? The cast revealed a few major season five secrets in San Diego.
We still have nearly three months until The Vampire Diaries kicks off its fifth season on The CW, but the cast is already hard at work filming. And the stars were on hand July 20 at the show’s Comic-Con panel to dish a little dirt — including the future of Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) re-affirmed romance. (Spoiler alert: The future looks bright!)
Silas’ Dark Plans For Mystic Falls
Let’s begin with Paul Wesley, who will be pulling double duty in season five, both as Stefan (in a box) and the true form of Silas. Before the panel began, attendees were shown an intense clip of Paul (as Silas), addressing what seemed to be a compelled group of humans in Mystic Falls. He wants the limits of his powers to be tested, which only makes me even more terrified of the already terrifying villain.
That said, Silas isn’t going to be the only threat on the show this season. In fact, he isn’t even going to be the biggest! Executive producer Julie Plec explained that the season’s initial villain is rarely the official “big bad,” to which Paul responded, “Just when you think you’re at the top of the food chain!”
Damon & Elena: So ‘Happy’ Together
The pre-panel footage featured a shot of Damon and Elena kissing, and during a separate interview with EW.com, the cast — specifically Nina — revealed some very good news for ‘Delena’ fans:
It’s been a fun summer for Elena and Damon. And Elena’s going to college now, so they’re going to try to make the long-distance thing work.
But no one was more surprised than Ian to learn that Damon and Elena actually stand a fighting chance. When Julie old him the goal was to make the couple “happy” in season five, his response was, “I thought they were joking. Damon never gets the girl!”
Bonnie & Jeremy’s Ghost-Love
Of course, ‘Delena’ isn’t the only fan-favorite couple on the show right now. Kat Graham told fans to expect a lot of scenes between Bonnie and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) — mostly because he’s the only one who can see her. She also remained mum about when her big secret will finally come out.
As for Jeremy’s little situation, the resurrection is addressed immediately. Oh, and Jeremy will definitely be living with Damon — which is just awesome.
