Miley, our hearts go out to you after learning that when you two fight, Liam often takes off AND turns off his phone, a source told HollywoodLife.com exclusively. Here’s what relationship experts warn and advise.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, your engagement appears to be under stress and now it seems that your fighting style could be a serious threat to your relationship-thriving, experts say.

Liam Hemsworth: Discuss Issues With Miley Cyrus

When Miley, 20, and Liam, 23, have a major disagreement, Liam apparently “tortures” Miley, by “taking off” and then shutting his phone off, claims a source close to the engaged couple.

“That's so hard on her,” the source explained. “It really, really upsets her when she can't reach Liam. She wonders where he's at and who he's with. It's torture for her.”

Wow, we get it Miley! Nothing is worse than when you have a major blowout with the one you love and then instead of resolving it, they take off and go radio silent.

It’s so frustrating and unfair to you, Miley. It’s normal and actually healthy for couples to fight and have disagreements. But it isn’t healthy if you can’t actually finish those fights, ie. if Liam shuts down and actually shuts up.

“Running away and not confronting is the worst thing you can do in a relationship,” says celebrity therapist, Dr. Gildathe 30-second Therapist for Today. “People who don’t confront are fearful of what’s going to happen but what they’re doing is postponing an opportunity to discuss & resolve issues so of course he keeps doing the same thing and they’re probably fighting about the same things over and over again.”

Miley, Liam Needs To Accept Your New Style

Miley, we hear from sources that the source of your disagreements with Liam stem from your new sexy, grown-up punky look, sound and image. You’ve done a brilliant job of reinventing yourself and the proof is in your sales. Your new single, “We Can’t Stop,” is rocketing up the iTunes chart!

But the thing is that Liam fell in love with you when you were barely out of your Hannah Montana phase and he’s having a hard time accepting that twerking and walking a naughty girl fine line, is important to your adult artistry.

You on the other hand, accept that he plays different roles and characters as part of his job and you need him to see that you’re doing the same.

The thing is that you two need to to talk and continue your conversations until you come to some agreement on your differences and that can’t happen Liam, if you turn off your phone and “abandon” Miley.

Liam & Miley — Allow Yourself To Cool Down & Then Discuss

“Unfortunately, life comes with drama, and if Liam wants to have a sustaining relationship with Miley, he has to be able to confront the situation, not run away from it,” says relationship advice columnist, Diana Falzone.

Miley, for you and Liam to continue to grow as a couple, you have to convince him to sit down with you — possibly after an agreed-upon cooling off period of a couple of hours or a day, suggests Diana, and then continue your conversation less emotionally.

And Miley, you and Liam do need to recognize that you are both very young and that you’re both in the midst of growing up and changing. That’s what you do when you’re in your twenties and especially when you’re both such creative and talented people.

You’ve made a hopefully life-long commitment at a very early age and so you both have to work extra hard to talk through the changes you’re going through.

Liam & Miley, You Can Grow Together

But Liam, you especially need to move beyond the tactic of literally shutting Miley out. If you love her, you need to respect her feelings and not allow yourself to be overwhelmed by the emotional disagreements you have.

Turning off your phone and taking off, as sources say you’re doing, is really hurtful to her. No one likes to be pushed away and blocked out by a loved one.

Maybe you two need to get some couples counseling to help you fight more constructively. Lots of couples need it at various points in their relationship.

If you two are truly committed it could really lead to more happiness which comes from better and more loving communication.

We hope you two can resolve your differences. You’re both terrific people and we’d love to see you two grow together and not apart.
