Plane Crash In San Francisco: Two Chinese Students Named As Victims Jul 7th 2013, 13:28, by Andrew Gruttadaro The world watched in horror and shock as a Boeing 777 jet from South Korea crashed to the runway in San Francisco on July 6. Now that the smoke and fire has cleared, officials have been able to account for all 306 passengers and also identify the two high school-aged girls who perished in the crash landing. How unbelievably tragic. The crash landing at San Francisco International Airport on July 6 that tore the tail of the Asiana Airlines plane completely off and sent fireballs into the air also injured 182 people and worse, killed two. Two Girls Identified In San Francisco Plane Crash The two victims have been identified as Ye Mengyuan and Wang Linjia, two 16-year-old Chinese students, Chinese state media said according to KTVU. They were found dead outside the wreckage. The two girls were enrolled at Jiangshan Middle School, a highly competitive school on the east coast of China. Ye and Wang were part of a group of 29 students and five teachers who had set off on a trip. Yoon Young-doo, the CEO of Asiana Airlines, confirmed the deaths of the two Chinese girls in a short statement and added, ”I bow my head and sincerely apologize for causing concern to the passengers, families and our people.” San Francisco Plane Crash: 182 Injured The massive Boeing 777 passenger was carrying 306 people total, according to KTVU. Besides Ye and Wang, 182 more were taken to hospitals, 49 of those injured were said to be in critical condition. The crash landing was truly a horrific event, all the way from the jet’s tail making impact with the runway and tearing off to the plane’s skidding spinout and eventual burning. “I just saw a plane crash start to finish. I can't stop crying, I can't believe this," onlooker Danielle Wells tweeted. While Ye and Wang’s deaths are tragic — especially considering their ages — rescue teams should be commended for helping to keep casualties of such a violent accident to a minimum. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ye and Wang’s families, and with the families of all the injured victim of the flight.
